Hi, could you plase write, why you sold your edition 4K SC UK-edition (B082L9KS1X)? I've read here about perfect picture Quality and in my case I have experienced completely something different.
Watching on my calibrated laser TV Formovie Theater (80") screen with Panasonic UB9000 and Dolby Visiopn the picture was really bad. Very often 'snowing' was visible (like in 90's when you have set up your CRT anoalog tv). On my PC (34') it looks ok...but it is much smaller screen. On suites and black elements were plenty of grey-white points occuring and black was sometimes with white points too. I do have such problems only with old and weak transfers. Another movie like Le Mepris was looking great (is from 1963). So it is not my system. @community Does any of you have or had simmilar quality problem? I do not belive in set-up issue...the problem usually does not exist. Last edited by Filmy4K; 01-23-2024 at 08:27 AM. |

Criterion UHD is the same SC transfer but with the original Paramount logo restored up front (also reflected on the 4k HDR streaming version, meaning this was done and supplied by Paramount instead of StudioCanal).
Criterion BD is the same 2015 disc. |

If you are talking about Le cercle rouge I believe they did and it probably suffers from the same colour regrading that made the 4K unpopular. The original Criterion BD sells for a lot more than the 4k with BD combo.

With that said, the original Blu-ray does NOT sell a lot more than the 4K. Bought the older remaster BD about a year or two ago for around the $20 price that it would've gone for the B&N sale. You can still find it at the $20 price. To find a new, unsealed copy will obviously cost you much more to the point it's not worth cashing in for. I was actually a bit disappointed with the older remaster. Colors didn't look all that amazing and grain and clarity was not so pleasing to me. Planning to buy the 4K UHD next sale to see how it stands up against the older remaster. I may be in that minority who may end up preferring the 4K restoration over the HD remaster, Ritrovata grading and all. |

I would not rate the transfer as amazing but it is good enough to keep using it. I would have bought the 4K if it wasn't for the changes. I am one of those persons ![]() if the colour changes weren't that extreme I would have bought the 4K . I am hoping they don't do the same with Le Samurai. |

A French 4K UHD came out back in November and people have been saying good stuff about it so far. Color wise, you won't be disappointed. We can probably expect 4Ks of Le Deuxieme Souffle and L'Armee des Ombres sometime soon as well. Criterion owns both so maybe a 2025-2026 release date for those two. |

If anyone is still looking at this thread, I picked this up during the latest Barnes and Noble Criterion sale, watched it last night, I wasnt able to get the HDR to work , tried in a standalone player, ps5 and series x, it was always sdr, I checked the settings and hdr was turned on for everything.
Anyone else experienced this issue? |
