Default Do you mirror your settings?

This is a question for those of you who use the DVE disc, or other DIY calibration blu-rays, to calibrate your displays.

Once finished, do you mirror the settings you came up with to the broadcast input (Satellite/cable)? We can't properly calibrate that source with this method, but we also can't really assume that the settings we got for the blu-ray are right for the broadcast programming.

I tried doing it but it looked washed out and dull, so I just tweaked some stuff until I liked it. What do you do?

yeah, I just tweak until it looks good. Calibrating for broadcast TV is tough. Mostly because each station/channel is of different quality to begin with.

Sometimes I have to tell my myself to put the remote on the table and walk away. It's maddening trying to tweak the TV channels. I'm at the point now that I don't watch any SD channels because they were driving me crazy. Except for Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon (umm, I swear it's because of my 7 year old, really!)

With my Sammy LCD A656, i used the settings from avforums (the English site, not the American one). The lads there use some fairly technical software to calibrate their tv's.

I use different settings for BR, TV and xbox. I am very impressed with the picture quality using the settings these lads come up with.

There is about 4-5 different groups of settings all by different people. I tried a few different ones, all varied depending on the room, light, source etc.

Once i found one i was happy with, i havn't felt the need to adjust anything since.

That was my biggest problem...the locals are digital, and 16:9, but I'm not too sure the prime time shows (what I typically watch if it's not playing a BD) are truly 1080i...really soft, if they are.

I dialed it in pretty well last night watching CBS, and TBS HD looked pretty good too, so we'll see.

+1, plus the SD channels look so bad and compressed, that I rarely watch them. The other day, the Incredible Hulk was on a SD channel and absolutely nothing else was on that I was remotely interested in. usually I would easily sit down to watch this if it was in HD. So what do I do? I turn the TV off and go to this site! LOL!!!

Since I'm using a single HDMI cable to my TV, I keep all the settings the same for all programming. My biggest concern is how BD's look. TV programs look pretty good, too, with my current settings.

I need to go back in and see how things look after 1000 hours of view time on my plasma. Haven't checked since about 250 hours. I may need to tweak my calibration a bit.

Some of my PS3 games have been really dark, so I used another preset mode for those, but I watch everything in Standard mode, which is the DVE-calibrated setting.
