Default shopping in Hong Kong?

I am going to Hong Kong soon and since it is also region A there.
Does anyone know how much BDs are selling there?

e.g. Prices for HK/Chinese movies and English titles..

Looking from Online sites it seems they go for about $220 HKD which is like $28 US. I think street price buying there locally might be cheaper though.

I heard that some places are much cheaper than others and since you are going I wouldn't hesitate to snag some and save on shipping. I wish I was in your shoes because I would have a feeding frenzy in those HK shops for blus because there are quite a few that I want.

I'm not sure the exact prices, but you are bound to find some good deals. Just don't go looking for Red Cliff II because you won't find it.

The prices should be the same except you won't have to pay for shipping. Also make sure you goto legit place. Ask around eletronic shops that sell Blu ray players where they get disc.

What about duties when you come home? Don't you have to pay those? I can't remember.

I know you can have tax free purchases up to several hundreds of US dollars ($800 I think, not sure), which I probably won't hit that limit.

No, you don't have to pay duties as long you declare you have them. I and my family have brought movies and music home from London and Thailand without paying duty fees.

I suggest you print out list of blu-ray price in dddhouse, so you know you not getting rip off when buying in HK. Overthere you might has to bargain for price, they usually rip you off if you are outsider.

Mei Ah pulled the release from stores. It has been out of print for over a month. You can still get it on amazon and some other sites but they will be gone soon. I have heard from people that you can't find it anywhere in HK.

Try Renchi (http://www.renchi.com/index.jsp) - they have both Red Cliff 1 + Red Cliff 2 (Two Blu-ray Disc Set) for USD56.90 + delivery - & they're ALL REGION. Mine just shipped yesterday.

Be careful about buying there (never on the street) and don't always trust what the salesman says at some respectable places. Their bootlegs look like authentic copies and can get very interesting when going through customs. In Hong Kong hit Victorias Peak, Kowloon....Bahama Mamas is a good bar. Have fun.

You can buy them on the street. Doubt if they're legit though. When I was in HK there were a lot of fakes going around. They have them in major stores but they are the same price as in the u.s. , no deals to be had.

Just buy the bootleg dvd's, they were a buck apiece. Even if you got 50% good you still come out ahead.

I found it tough to find any when I was there. When I did find them they were more expensive than here.

In China I found them cheap but they weren't legit... SO... no good.

I heard in the net, those bootleg blu-ray are using double layer dvd, able to put 1080p quality video in the disk using 5.1 sound (no hd or extra) kinda like hd dvd.
