Wow, these HK movies are coming out sooner and sooner everyday. Only a 2 month releases window now. I'm loving it! Although, not really excited for this movie but I can't wait till we get movies like Ip Man 2, True Legend and 14 Blades on Blu-rays.

The disc looks and sounds beautiful, and the movie itself looks like it has found a comfortable niche for itself between period piece storytelling and star vehicle crowd pleaser. Gels much better than I feared, the direction is assured and the pace tight. Can't wait to see the whole thing, sadly didn't have time last night.
On a sadder note, the disc would NOT play in my region B machine. It is locked to A. |

I just watched the blu on Fri and this was the first time I'm watching this movie. I felt that the story could have been tighter if they didn't try to build up so many characters in the flim. And I have the sense that some of the action sequences are there as a crowd pleaser rather than something that the movie called for.
However the PQ is great and the shot of HK Harbor looks great in blu. In terms of AQ, my only gripe is that the dialogue is too soft for speech. |

UK release of this in may, on BD & DVD. HMVs price on the BD is £11.99 - about £10 cheaper than the HK release works out for me, currently.

Haven't gotten around to watching this yet, but according to IMDB, the primary language is Mandarin. Oh boy, that would be some screw up... Last edited by AnimeOnBlu; 03-31-2010 at 04:56 AM. |
