Big shoes to fill, not only for the original but for the damn good 88 remake.

I do hope they go with the Alien origin instead of the US Experiment origin.

I was honestly kind of looking forward to the Rob Zombie version before that got cancelled lol. I enjoyed the director’s previous two films so I’ll probably give this one a shot.

88 version was one of the better remakes out there, one of the few movies that could genuinely gross me out and disturb me. It can be really gruesome in the right hands.

Would not want to be the director on this one. Just cant see how they would be able to top the original or the great 88 remake.

I was always greatly intrigued by a Blob remake that takes place in a big city like New York. Can you imagine how big it would get by eating this many people? A giant blob that is snatching people through the subways and the sewers, until it gets so big its a frigging giant monster as big as a building, stretching everywhere in Manhattan, where the survivors are hiding in skyscraper trying to fend off the Blob from coming in. Obviously, this would be a much bigger budget movie but at least it would be something new, kind of what the ending of the Blob remake hinted at (the Apocalypse). Just making another remake in another small town just seems like a waste, since we've already had two really good movies.

I wouldn't have minded seeing someone like Breck Eisner (who did a great job with the remake of crazies) tackle this.
I really enjoyed The ritual by David Bruckner but his Hellraiser left me pretty cold. At the very least, i'm intrigued to see in what direction they will go for this.

I’m sure this can be fun but the 1988 version really perfected it. In a class with The Fly and The Thing. They should remake something that had potential but wasn’t met rather than this.

It's not entirely necessary, but I was actually just thinking about what a modern remake of The Blob would look like just the other day. Cautiously looking forward to it.

David Bruckner is the man, pretty confident in this.

the producers will cheap out and not do it all practical. so this will be awful.

there isn’t anything else to say. i don’t need characters or good writing or some stupid important pretentious nonsense or pr proclaiming the movie is important to try and attract people. i just need great practical fx.

but great practical fx cost money AND time. they’re not going to spend $20 million on production and then another 30-40 on marketing it.

Bruckner seems like such a weird choice for this. He's a fairly solem horror filmmaker and I'm not sure if he'd fit something that requires a slightly schlockier approach.

Unless this is the Tom Cruise project, nobody asked for this.

Nobody ever asks for movies. They get made. And you can either watch them or not.

I’m a huge fan of the original, since it played often on NYC tv, when I was a kid in the 70s. I was 19 when the remake was released, and had the pleasure of watching it opening night, in a packed theater on 42nd Street NYC. It was an awesome experience and the audience went wild for it. I had a similar experience with the original Fright Night.

I really hope this remake, if it comes to fruition is done with the love and care, that was applied to the first two. I don’t count Beware The Blob, as it was more a comedy, than horror.

Thank God the makers of the 1988 remake didn't think like you do and cared about having a good script, good actors and great characters or we would have ended up with a pile of s*it. I swear sometimes people have no idea what makes some of these movies so great... FX are very important in a horror movie but good God, you need more than that to have a classic on your hand.

As if Frank Darabont's script didn't matter...
