So the interesting thing to me about "Dance Flick" is that the audio is DTS-HD MA 5.1.

http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/dance-flick.html

Is this a first for this audio for Paramount? I'm hoping that they start releasing all their movie this way!

I did a movie search here at Blu-ray.com and it appears Paramount has released four movies with DTS-HD MA with one on the way.

Okay. We should wait little longer to find out whether the outcome of the poll has influenced Paramount. I hope this would be the case.

A blockbuster release that is blu-ray exclusive during the holiday shopping season along with cheap BD player prices and a possible PS3 price drop?! That could be an all but fatal blow to DVD....in my opinion.

Perhaps you are on to something. It does seem Paramount is taking a long time to announce a release date for Transformers 2, especially considering it's been available for per-order for quite awhile.

Transformers 2 would be an ideal candidate for Paramount to release early on Blu-ray, partially due to the significance of the original Transformers. Being Paramount delayed its Blu-ray release by about a year and alienated many Blu-ray supporters in the process.

Paramount is talking the talk, but can they walk the walk?

Paramount needs to do this with Transformers 2 to make up for some of that $150 million they made off with, or at least make the BD and DVD the same price.
Corporations are in the business to make $$$$$$ not to be fair or just.

That is one of their biggest problems! But I have just heard they are coming out with a new product called Volt which will get about 225 MPG. That should get them going again.

Said poll has zero effect on any codec choice Paramount might make

Sorry can't agree with your statement. Paramount's decision was business based, and it worked out very well for them. It is "water under the bridge". All I ask is a 5/5 BD release, and I am confident that it will be delivered.

Hate to digress, but it's ironic seeing GM embrace electric vehicle technology again. Similar to Toshiba and Paramount with Blu-ray.

It was "water under the bridge" until Paramount chose to stir the pot with announcements of promoting Blu-ray (assuming the news reports are accurate).

Paramount said they want to drive Blu-ray adoption. What better movie is there than Transformers 2 to drive Blu-ray adoption?

Saying it worked out very well for them is hard to say, and presumes quite a bit of knowledge we don't have.

If Paramount had went the other way, the war may have (effectively) ended that day. If that had happened, who knows where Blu-Ray would be right now. Their total unit sales would probably be about the same, but if a bigger piece of the pie is from Blu-Ray that's more profits for you. Is there any doubt Transformers would have more Blu-Ray sales today than they have Blu-Ray + HD DVD sales all time, had they gone Blu-Ray on that fateful day?

Now it's entirely possible that they did profit off the deal, all I'm saying is that there are WAY too many variables to know that with certainty.

agree, also out of the different studios Paramount is in one of the tightest positions, if they made good financial decisions they should not be where they are now. Not saying it is because they chose the easy money, but usually looking too much short term (like that decision) tends to be good for "right now" but hurts in the long run.

Imagine That is a better choice than Dance Flick at the very least.

And with them going on with a second title along this path, it means they're mot committed to the idea and its not some wacky test.

Releasing Transformers 2 a couple weeks on blu-ray before the dvd release would have been great.
