Question New Pioneer 50" Plasma coming tomorrow.. break in/calibration suggestions?

I am impatiently waiting for my new Pioneer KURO 5020 to arrive tomorrow, as i am now burning my break in DVD. I bought the tv at BB and purchased the premium black tie protection with initial calibration... So after the first 100 hours or so they will arrange to come to the house and calibrate the tv.... What are good steps or precautions to take within the first 100 hours????

First off , CONGRATS on the fine choice!!! I never broke-in any of my Kuro's , but if it gives you that piece of mind then it wont hurt. Just watch everything and anything that fills the entire screen & you will be fine. (16x9/1.78)

Welcome to the Kuro club.

thanks sonny.... Yea im skeptical with things like that, being that ive heard these pioneers are like no maintenance or break in and the best picture you can get for the price range so, im just trying to ensure that i have the best possible picture for the life of the TV... Thanks again...

what happens if you use d-nice's settings without doing the 150h break in? he says it should only be used AFTER the break in with that dvd or slides. I was just wondering cause my pro111fd should be coming this wednesday and i was curious as well.

Nothing bad. He's just letting you know the best settings (& PQ possible without an ISF calibration) before and after thats all. Enjoy the Kuro. They really are the best displays out there. I love mine to death!

As Sonny said nothing bad will happen. The break in is just to speed up the aging process of the panel.

If you aren't going to bother with the break in then just watch the set normally with plenty of material that fills in the full screen.

Applying the post break in settings before the set has 150 hours on it just means that the picture you are going for with D-Nice's settings will not be accurate just yet.

I personally did do the break in as he laid it out. But I am just anal that way!

Don't let BB calibrate your Pioneer. Get it "professionally" done by a REAL professional.
