i think there is a limited number of subfolders you can go through, but im not sure what that number is, but for the "there are no titles" problem, if you are looking at pictures/movies/music, you have to be under the corresponding tab on the XMB |

If you're getting internet from the apartment complex, you may have an odd network setup that'll prevent streaming. The apartment's routers are probably set up so computers can't see other computers on the network so that you don't go browsing through your neighbor's shared folders. If that's how your network is set up, just run an ethernet cable from your computer to the PS3.

sounds to me like a firewall issue on your computer.

if you can see your neighbors PC on your ps3, its definitely your PC thats the problem, the connection is probably being blocked by your firewall, im not at home, so i cant check myself, but i believe if you go into the FAQ section on the media server on your PC, there should be instructions on how to set your firewall to let the connection pass, i dont use the windows firewall so i couldnt tell you off the top of my head, but theres probably a section where you can select programs to be able to bypass the firewall, and you would just have to select the PS3 media server in there

Has anyone here tried using PlayOn as their media server? I have found it works much better than both PS3 Media Server and Tversity. As well as the usual stuff it gives me access to iTunes, Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, and a lot more.
Nobody has mentioned it in this thread, so I thought I'd bring it up. I've been using it for 6 or 7 months now, and it works flawlessly. |
