Default Wal Mart and their Blu-ray movies

I don't know if its a regional thing, but I know our Wal-Marts in the St. Louis area used to have almost an entire section of Blu-ray DVDs and know they just have a little section at the end of row. I have also noticed that the PS3 stuff has been several cut back on and they no longer have the PSN card at the stores too. Also moved the games around too where the 360 games are first, then Wii, followed by PS3 and PS2 games. Makes me wonder if Microsoft didn't grease Wal-Marts wheels or something. Anyway really just wondering if anyone else has noticed this or if it is just my area.

There was an article about WM getting more BD's in stock. They were able to bring in more and sell them at $15, but they only did that for about a month or so. Very disappointing, and I don't buy much from them anymore.

I ordered 2 new Blu Rays for under $7 each from Walmart this week using free "ship 2 store" shipping. I'm tempted to also get Slumdog which is under $13 the same way.

I don't find a lot of stuff in store but when you realize you can get free shipping on most anything if you can pick it up from the store Walmart becomes a great place to buy Blu Rays.

I still order blu-rays from them online pretty cheaply, usually just under whatever amazon's price is.

Blu-ray Disc not Blu-ray DVDs. And that is a odd move by a retailer to expand a section to only cut back on it. Maybe the store you go to doesn't receive enough profits to justify more shelf space.

I noticed that my store has decreased it selection by a lot. The mostly just have new releases. When I asked the sales associate where all their older Blu-rays went to, he responded, " I dunno. We were just asked to pack them up and ship them back." He doubted that they would be getting more in. My store now has, however, a $15 kiosk with about 15-20 movies.

They used to have that section over here too, but its gone too. All we have are the brand new ones and a couple of $10 movies. To me its like they get a case of the new ones and won't order any more. I was going to pick up a newer movie, with in the last 2 months, and they didn't even have it anymore.

Our Wal-Mart did the same thing. We used to have a small, respectable (and still-growing) Blu-ray section, and then one day I went into the store and the Blu-ray back-catalog area was gone. Not long afterwards, the Electronics Department started getting in all these new-model Blu-ray players. I reminded the manager of Electronics that (hello) software still sells hardware, but he said his hands are tied by the home offices down in Bentonville Arkansas. What they say goes, he told me, and in this case what went was Blu-ray software.

So all these fancy new Blu-ray players at our WMSC continue to sit there on the shelves (to nobody's surprise), gathering dust.

To make matters worse, our store usually gets only a few of the newest releases every Tuesday morning. And after a week or so those titles also up and disappear from the shelf. For me to go shopping for any back-catalog Blu-ray titles, I either have to drive to BB/Target/B&N in Columbia or else order them from Amazon or Wal-Mart online.

Wasn't there a thread about this before? I thought it said that Wal-Mart was prepping to expand their Blu-ray section but they are reducing their displays for the moment in preparation.

It was something like that.
