Have to admit, I watched Nimona for the first time two days after voting closed, and it would've been #13 on my list. Ashamed that I overlooked it for so long.

Edit: upon rewatch the movie climbed up to #8 on my 2023 ranking. If you're re-reading this thread and haven't seen this gem of a movie, give it a watch.

- Al The Strange “Hokey, I know, but I was entertained. A lot. Something about the tone, writing, levity, the way scenes are blocked, creative decisions and the nature of the story invoked a sense of fun that reminded me of horror movies I used to love in the 90s. There's an intangible snap to it that carries the film through its absurd storyline. However, the film does the work to keep audiences invested in the characters, and it becomes surprisingly relevant and emotional as it explores the themes of technology and its role in parenting. It's more depth than I expected, but even without it, the film is quite the thrill ride, and M3GAN herself is easily the scariest robot I've seen since GLaDOS.”





- CelluloidPal “A hardcore and thoroughly entertaining old school slasher that delivers not just the thrills and kills but lots of humor.”

- Zivouhr “Entertaining story of Dracula's familiar, who wants to break free from his oppressive leader. Good action horror movie with humor.”





- Creed “Unreal. Pure bleakness and devastation. Chernov, the rest of the journalistic press and we viewers witnessed innocent lives shamelessly suffering, or flat out dead. Dykstra's equally heavy and ambient score adds to the hopelessness of the situation.”





- bubbamoo “The King of visual style makes the most of modern conveniences in this quirky tale.”

I enjoyed Thanksgiving quite a bit. Even though Renfield didn't make my list ultimately that one was fun too.

I highly enjoyed M3GAN, Thanksgiving, and Renfield. All well deserving of making the list. I thought the Thanksgiving movie was a worthy follow up to the trailer from Grindhouse. I did pick up the 4K steelbook for M3GAN, which happened to also be one of my favorite steelbooks of the year. Definitely need to pick up the other two at some point.

Good to see Renfield made the top 50. Entertaining horror-action-comedy film IMO.

It only had 7 votes, and everyone ranked it highly; the rest of the films in that list had double-digit votes. Absolutely would have ranked higher if more people had seen it, but I’m just happy it made the list!

- Zivouhr “More energetic Captain Marvel this time. Good team.”









- The Debts “Guess I can finally hang up my "I hate Guy Ritchie" card. This particularly earnest war thriller deals with the relationship between a soldier and his interpreter, both of are wonderfully played by Jake Gyllenhaal and Dar Salim, in a way that's sturdy and unpretentious. And sometimes, that's all you really need out of a movie like this.”





- Member-866753 “Shiva duo Emma Seligman and Rachel Sennett re-team and take a big, confident swing with this brash, bloody, and raunchy high school comedy that feels like it belongs to a bygone era as it forgoes postmodernism and subversion in favor of unabashedly leaning into all of the genre trappings with wildly entertaining results.”
