Also, on-screen text is likely hard-coded into the image in Italian, looking like a subtitle. This is what Lucky Red did with Coup de Chance. Luckily, on that film it only affected the French title and one other instance during the film but still disappointing as something like this is totally avoidable. If anyone chooses the original audio anyway, why would we need to see anything hard-coded into Italian, especially when it’s a subtitle. I have seen Perfect Days but can’t remember any particular text of note that was subtitled, so maybe this UHD master is free of any such unnecessary tinkering. Encoding-wise, Coup de Chance looks and sounds absolutely fantastic. All those legendary songs in the film could certainly benefit from that.

I'm assuming that's referring to just the BD, since UHDs are supposed to be region-free (I know that's not always the case). Unless the licensor requested it to prevent reverse-imports from Japan, who knows..

It wouldn't be a problem for me cos I am in the UK na d have a Region Free player regardless, but it is weird and I wouldn't want to see more of this happening. |

They're definitely not identical, particularly when it comes to the Q&A, which might be the interview on the Italian disc, or something different entirely. I wouldn't be surprised as there are many lengthy Wenders interviews around. I think I'll pick up a copy of the Italian BD for this interview instead of the MUBI BD. |

Somebody Comes into the Light is a good inclusion, but I really feel with titles like Tokyo-Ga I should just learn other languages.
There were a few different Q&As in the UK at Curzon and Picturehouse - found some US NEON ones. Last edited by CelestialAgent; 04-04-2024 at 05:24 PM. |

![]() If you’re capable of adding external subtitles, you can replace foreign tracks with English or any other language and make an otherwise incompatible release instantly available to you. Regarding the Q&A’s and Interview: I tried to find other Lucky Red releases to see whether they’re aware of the difference between a Q&A and a traditional interview but didn’t find anything. I have a feeling it’s an interview as described. We’ll see soon, I’m looking forward to the release. |
