VR was fun for the one day I tried it but I've never since wanted to do anything with it again. Don't think I could stand watching a movie that way either. Passive glasses are tolerable occasionally though.

Looks like AVP is consistently getting all of the new 3D releases since it came out. Sucks they're not getting discs, but at least they won't be totally lost like the dozens of movies that came out 2015-2023 and never got a release anywhere.
Yeah but they should have put Puss in Boots 2 on the AVP by now…disappointing that they haven’t….yet?

Of course no (day one) physical 3D release, as seen many times before!

Nice. I need to finally watch the Mario 3D I bought on there and see how bad the quality is. Would like to watch Migration as well if the resolution is tolerable.

Someone posted on Facebook that he watched the Vudu 3D version of Migration on a big TV and was very pleased with it. He posted a screenshot. Looked good & very colorful. Guess it is worth a try!

A price drop is a good idea for digital, I agree.
Are you able to download the file from VUDU, or do they require you log in to their VUDU app website in order to be able to view the 3D film? I'm thinking it's probably the latter, since they'll have more control that way unfortunately.

If it was downloadable, that would be much better to own without needing internet to watch it.

I don't believe you can watch it outside of the VUDU app. Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong. I'd much prefer a 3d bluray option. I don't believe I own any of these so called purchased digital titles, especially 3D titles on a streaming service called "Fandango at Home." When/If the service goes under, I have a strong feeling all my purchased 3D titles go bye bye.

If you purchase the movie there are ways to capture it and have a local file that you can mux in Atmos etc with it, but that requires some skill and is not natively supported, the app basically only let's you stream which sucks. I have had to do this with Super Mario / migration etc. and such because like you mention if they service goes away so does your purchase.

Yes you can. VUDU allows download but it will be locked to the device you downloaded it to, no need for internet to watch them after purchase.

Apple will not support your AVP for life, history indeed shows that Apple don't support their products for very long, it's an endless upgrade cycle.

Apple need not support a device for life for one to own it for life and access the content for life!

ya not going to spend $3,500 for a device where i can't even enjoy it with other people in the same room. Capture + upscale + audio mux is definitely better than solo AVP for me. But I think it is one of those personal preference types of things.

what is the need for upscale ? afaik the resolution on the 3D files (at least on paper, i dont have an AVP but who has one can confirm) for the AVP is much higher than the conventional 3D we have seen before. Some say its even higher than a bluray. Actually once the AVP is cracked, a downscale may be needed to make those playable in devices like 3d tv and projectors.

Upscale is needed for the capture from Vudu. If we can get an AVP capture, then like you say we'd downscale it to 1080p since it runs at 4K / 3D on the AVP.

Currently the only way to get it on my projector is buy it from Vudu, then capture, then upscale, then mux with better audio and repackage as an ISO. This makes it look a lot better than just the straight Vudu stream and I don't risk getting any latency or load screen. If/when we can get the AVP version that will open up a lot of good things with better resolution.
