Universal Studios Kung Fu Panda 4 3D Blu-ray (2024) [Region Free]

Kung Fu Panda 4 3D Blu-ray

EVERYONE knows this would happen, but it's always good to have confirmation. It looks like they have started the 3D conversion of Kung Fu Panda 4.

Anyone else watched the Netflix series with Jack Black? Not 3d but obviously he is still involved regularly with the series.

Got high hopes for this one. Kung Fu Panda 2 was the very first 3D Blu-ray I ever bought. I still cite it as a film that uses 3D to serve character and emotion, not just spectacle.

Even with Dreamworks outsourcing their 3D to SDFX, the results in The Last Wish were fantastic. I see no reason why KFP4 can't deliver the same.

I'm a fan of the movies, but thought the TV show was just a bore to watch.

Dreamworks' 3D has been hit-or-miss since they started outsourcing post-conversion to SDFX. But in this trailer, the energy dragon looks like prime 3DNA. It's popping off the screen and shooting out particles.

Studio requested to have a least 1 3D show per day. At my location it will be the last one at night.

Same thing here, and I'm pissed. Was really looking forward to taking my kids to see this in 3d this weekend, but only one 3D showing and it's at 10:30pm.

I've already seen this twice in 3D - I was tired, I fell asleep the first time .... I thought the 3D was excellent and the movie itself very entertaining

The 3D conversion work done for Kung Fu Panda 4 is better than Trolls 3, in my opinion. The stereo experience was enjoyable, even though it is a noticeable step down from the amazing 3D of the third film. I wasn't expecting much from a fourth installment done 8 years after the fact, but it was a fun time.

There are at least a dozen 3D showtimes each day for Kung Fu Panda 4 in my city, which is pretty great.

Kung Fu Panda 4 3D Review: Decent 3D
Theater- Cinemark, seating, left side of theater, clear view of screen, sat upright for the best 3D angle of 3D glasses. No projection issues.

3D Layering: 7/10. Mostly medium layering throughout, with some mild 3D shots. There is a high medium 3D shot at the very end, overlooking the valley scenery.
3D Pop Outs: Some particles of flowers and a hand pops out nicely. Not many pop outs.
3D Framing: 7/10. Some shots look framed nicely for 3D, so when a wheel is about to go down the steps, at first, it's cut off on top, but then thankfully they zoom back to frame it so we can see the full wheel as it goes down the steps.
Nothing great but decent framing for 3D shots.
Favorite 3D Shot: Po walking through the bamboo forest, then looks over the cliff edge to the distant scenery, with high medium layers of 3D.
3D Summary: 7/10. Mostly medium layers of 3D with some mild 3D. Some high medium 3D shots, like the flower tree for a few seconds, and a couple distant views from a nearby cliff edge.

Is this a conversion? There is a clue in the film that it is converted, near the latter half of the film, we're zooming in towards a short plant, and I could see some confusion with the leaves switching position in 3D space slightly as if not tracked properly. But above, I see it's listed as a conversion. I believe it. This was an okay 3D effort, but as others said, pales in comparison to the prior 3D Panda films.

3D Ranking:
Kung Fu Panda 2, KFP1, KFP3 (equally nice 3D efforts with medium to strong 3D and pop outs)
KFP4 3D Mild to medium 3D layers.

The movie is slightly interesting, but even KFP3 was better IMO.

I caught the 3D showing and wasn't too impressed. There were a few times it didn't even look in 3D at all and removing my glasses revealed only a very slightly blurred image, so very minimal depth at those moments. I hadn't planned on posting about my viewing experience, so didn't note specific shots that I liked or didn't like. I had the perfect seat for the experience (center, center). Overall, the movie itself wasn't as good as the predecessors and didn't really feel necessary. Not that it was bad or anything, just kind of mediocre in all regards.

The original trilogy is up there with the best animated movies. But this feels like a cash grab. Angelina Jolie and Jackie Chan replaced by "Akwafina". That's strike one. The reviews mostly suggest that this is a babysitting movie at best. That's strike 2. Your comments about the 3D is strike 3. Even if I take @Zivouhr's comments into account it's still at best a mediocre movie with mediocre 3D.

I found KFP1 3D buried on the bottom of a bargain bin recently. Seems like I should punt on KFP4 and just fire that up instead?

Akwafina surprised me by not being terrible in Shang Chi but her "voice of a 70 year old chain smoker", as one pundit put it, was atrocious in her last voice acting role I experienced (The Littler Mermaid remake), "once bitten twice shy" for sure.

Ignoring Rotten Tomatoes which is now just basically rotten, the reviews haven't been great for KP4. But its got a high cinema score which does give me pause for thought. As for KFP1, just go for it.

She was fine in Shang-chi, almost a great character. But like most Phase 4 movies they turned a potentially great female character into just another Raya/Mulan/Shang-she/<insert girl boss here> trope.

That's too bad. I'll probably still buy it if a 3D disc would surprisingly turn up, to support 3D if nothing else, but sounds like a pass otherwise.

Overall disappointed. I was hoping for at least as solid of a story/movie as KFP3, and it didn't quite hit that target imo. Some funny moments but most of them were in the previews. Lastly, no option to watch in 3D (apart from taking my kids to a 10:30pm showing) really soured me. I may or may not still pick it up on disc assuming a 3D release, but that is strictly out of loyalty to 3D. Meh.

I doubt you will get a choice.

I assume that this won't get a 3D Blu-ray, the only label who could be in a position to possibly release it are Turbine but they haven't even released a single 3D Blu-ray yet.
