Default Which historical figure has been most accurately portrayed on film?

There have been so many historical figures portrayed on film. Whose performance do you think is the most accurate?

Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison was pretty good. Also loved everybody in I'm Not There.

Thirteen Days had terrific portrayals of many of Kennedy's people and JFK himself.

I know it's more like a miniseries but Paul Giamatti as John Adams was quite a performance! Also Jim Caviezel as Jesus in The Passion of the Christ and Wes Studi as Geronimo in the film of the same name, that would be a great film to have on blu!

was not even close to accurate. You need to listen to the commentary on the DVD.

The film is 99% accurate every movie has variations of the real story. if you watch an actual documentary on apollo 13, a movie that was word for word would have been very boring.

I think it depends on how you take accurate, accurate in what they did, or who they where. In terms of historic accuracy Elizabeth is fairly poor, but in terms of the embodiment of who the person apparently was, it is close to perfection (from what we know of her).

DUDE...the title of this thread is was it accurate (the characters!) you go listen to it half of the interaction that went on was not accurate. Yes it would be boring but then again thats not the title of this thread....Which historical figure has been most accurately portrayed on film? the interaction inside the ship was not close to accurate. I was responding to the title of the thread.

I think that they did a good job in the portrayal of Patton.

"Cromwell", both Richard Harris as Oliver Cromwell and Alec Guinness as Charles I. This was a very accurate film indeed given the constraints of a 2 hour or so running time. Excellent performances also.
