Default Historical Moments on Blu

I love history particularly American history, and have been looking for various documentaries and historical pieces on Blu-Ray. There isn't much and I wish that they would put out more stuff. So my question is what historical moments would you guys like to see on Blu?

Some historical movies would be good, like Gettysburg (not that Gods and Generals crap), Saving Private Ryan, Ben-Hur, Lawrence of Arabia.

As for some documentaries... I don't know. The War was good on PBSHD, but I don't know if the older Ken Burns documentaries (like Baseball, which is my favorite documentary) would benefit much, so I'm fine with the DVD versions.

I would also pay for a good documentary about historical places across America. Those "Over America" Blu-rays are apparently horrible, or so I've read, so I avoided buying any.

The World at War with Laurence Olivier narrating. This has to be the definitive record of WW2. A must for historian buffs. Hope this gets a release.

Also, anything from the BBC history archives is superb.

Yes World at War is something I desperately want. I would love to have that over most movies coming to blu. I think it will be a while before we start seeing stuff like this sadly because there isnt as much money in it as there is in Transformers.

Yup, after seeing Valkyrie a few days ago, I'm going to buy the DVD version of World at War as soon as possible. I'm totally fascinated by WWII. I wish it was released on Blu, though, obviously. Some of these imaging companies like Lowry would be able to do a great job with it. We definitely need more documentaries on Blu, probably more than any other genre.

If you're into dramatizations and early American history, the HBO mini-series John Adams will be released June 16. I can't wait for this

And of course 300 and Troy are very good if you're into ancient history 300 is an amazing story and one of my favorite movies, really inspirational with a great message and great action, but very brutal scenes of course considering the weapons and tactics at the time...

Bought the DVD set at a garage sale for $25.

Would love to see The Civil War - A Film by Ken Burns

I hope you're aware that the actual battle of Thermopylae was 10 times worse than what happened in 300. 300 was essentially a few of the battle tactics, some of the key figures (although not portrayed historically accurately), and all of the major quotes all rolled into an otherwise fictional movie. I, personally, am still waiting for a much more accurate portrayal. I refuse to spend money on 300.

I would like to see Rome on Blu-ray.

Producers don't care about 30 years from now, of course World At War will still be a classic in 30 years while Transformers might be just remember for crappy FX shots and cheesie nostalgia. Trouble is producers want money now in their bank account not 30 years from now, so Transformers is the way to go for them on BD releases being more important.

You could say that about any "movie"! Patton was one the most inaccurate films I ever saw. Hell is opening speech is nothing more than 50+ speeches strung together that actually occured at different times.

I'm a history buff, and I love 300 despite the glaring inaccuracies (the lack of armor and the change in battle tactics for example)! I like it because 300 is the mythological version of the battle of Thermopylae. It fits more with the Greek myths than actual history, which I think is an interesting spin on things. It also explains much of the strange inaccuracies in the movie as the whole movie is being told by a Spartan to rally other Spartans to fight against Xerxes.

As for historical Blus, I really liked the History Chanel doc on the Battle of Thermopylae (Last Stand of the 300) and would like to see that!

Oh, and bring on Rome!
