So it seems nobody read or noticed or cared to comment that I incorrectly said this is Switch only when it's not. Anyway, I ordered the collector's edition for PS5. The figures are going to be so cool. And I'm pretty proud that I'll be able to have the collector's edition. This is one of my favorite games ever!

I still hope though that we might hear about a PS version because I would really like to play them getting trophies but if it's Switch only I guess I will get that. treasures was Switch only so I guess the deal isn't in place anymore. Also I still wish they do this for DQ4 which is the one I really want remade properly. But 3 is definitely one of the best!
Same here. My first two RPG's as a kid Dragon Warrior, followed by Dragon Warrior IV. DQ/DW IV was always my favorite of the series. They did put 4, 5, 6 on the DS, which was really well done, looking great for that handheld. Still, I've love to see 4-6 possibly get a 2D remake on the Swich 2. Also, 4-6 have gotten extremely pricey to get your hands on these days. Each game CIB can now run well >$100 for the DS versions, which had a fairly low print run in North America.

Fortunately I do have 4-6 on the DS. 6 is something I should really play again as I loved it but I only played it the one time after it's DS release. 4 I've played at least 10 times but that was mostly the NES. It's the one I most want to be remade, in DQ8 style, even more than this game, though that was my next most wanted for a remake.

The PS5 pre-order is eligible for the Target B2G1 sale

Had started considering waiting until we knew when 1 and 2 were coming to get this but can’t pass up $42 on Day 1.

So glad I played through Dragon Quest 1-3 (the original Switch versions) just within the past year. Was my first time ever playing DQ 2 and 3. It'll be nice playing through the remade trilogy of games after having experienced the original versions first.

I really wish they'd do some sort of 2D-HD remake for Final Fantasy VI, one of my favorite games of all-time. I like that they keep the turn based gameplay on the Dragon Quest remakes, but really despise what they did with the Final Fantasy VII remake hack n' slash gameplay.

More likely they end up possibly doing 2D-HD remakes for Dragon Quest 4-6 eventually on Switch 2. It would probably be a lighter lift considering they already did release some really nice upgraded versions of those games back on the DS.

I have been wanting a Trials of Mana style FF6 remake since that game came out, but looking at how this game is shaping up I would definitely take a FF6 version like that.

I have a question for you on DQ3. I understand talking to the king is the only way to permanently save and there are no priests to use to save like the later games. When I played a bit of it I found the king not easily accessible like priests are and had to trek a long way back just to save. Was this an issue for you or was I not playing it right? I would appreciate your feedback.

I never played on Switch but I played many times on NES and GBC. You can only save at Castles with kings/queens. Since you have Return/Zoom it's not a huge deal but it can be annoying since you typically have to "dig" into the town or castle to get to the King. I'm guessing this might change and they might have House of Healing or Churches and you can save with a priest. Tat would be more in line with how DQ games work now.

Well, at the very least, I think it's all but certain the next Mana game Visions of Mana will be released on Switch 2. The next console is probably perfect fit for that game.

Same here. In the end, I ended up buying the collector's edition. Are the contents really worth $224 shipped? No. But I have an amazing Dragon Quest collection and feel like it would be lacking without this piece.

Never really played any of the DQ games, but I'm a fan of the HD-2D look so I'll be looking to pick this up!

Noticed these diecast metal retro Sega consoles on the Square-Enix store. They look amazing... but cost $44 each, and are only like 0.5 x 2 x 2 inches. Although, you can buy them on Amazon Japan for closer to $30/each. Does seem a little funny to see Square Enix being the one to sell these things given I don't think a single one of their games ever came out on a Sega console.

Weird irony here: Square Enix never produced a single game on any Sega platform. Not that I know of anyway

Exclusive PS5 footage from DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake showing a glimpse at the Underground Lake and quest to find the dreamstone.

PS Blog posted some new info to go with the video, including a feature new to the game:

Quote:
One more new feature exclusive to Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is shown in the video – recruiting monsters.

Not every monster you meet wants to give you a beating – some are friendly. In these cases, you can recruit them to fight for you in one of the many monster arenas around the world. Many of these monsters are hidden away, so you’ll need to be alert and explore thoroughly to find them.

Looking forward to playing, but I won't have time until mid December.

I ended up canceling my preorder for this for the same reason, I won’t have any time to play it for a while so I’ll just pick it up when I have time. I’ve got 3.5 more Trails series games to finish to be caught up on that series and Ys X drops today which I’ve been really excited for. Plus the PS5 Pro launch will have me play testing all my games to some extent probably.

Then there’s Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered and the Tales of Arise DLC…
