Default Dragon Quest 1, 2, & 3 coming to Switch

Square Enix Asia on Facebook confirmed the games will have an English option, it looks like for now you’ll have to use an Asian eShop account to get them digitally, or import for physical (if that’s even an option, don’t know yet).

I had to visit Facebook (ewww) to take this screenshot for all of you.

Hopefully this is like the anniversary collection that had both the Famicom and Super Famicom versions. Definitely importing day one

Edit: Looks like it's sort of like the mobile versions coming to Switch

The GBC version of DQ3 I thought was incredible. I promised myself I would never play another version of DQ3 though unless it was done DQ8/DQ11 style. So this isn't that, but the graphics look incredible, and I'm sure they're going to add even more sidequests and bonus bosses. I'll probably cave eventually. I'm less interested in remakes of the first 2.

I don't have a Switch yet but probably will eventually.

With the physical not having Japanese options, I'll have to pass on the physical and just get the download versions. Hopefully 4 5 6 come soon!

The physical is from Japan though right? What do you mean it doesn't have Japanese options?

According to Play-Asia, the supported languages on the physical edition are Chinese, English, and Korean.

So are the mobile versions not as good? Is it still worth picking up?

Happy Console Gamer has a review up, and there are a few negative points.

Japan does not have their own physical version with the Japanese language? That's where Dragon Quest is most popular.

No physical release in Japan. It is a bit puzzling. Perhaps digital is more popular there.
