Willing to update this topic, adding the Bluray brands I know that can play MKV:
Oppo Pioneer JVC LG Samsung It would be great to know other stand alone players that play MKV too. |

I own the LG BD390, and it accepts NTFS files. You can put any size files. It also streams video files from your computer. What I am not sure is if there are already other new models that can implement MKV. Sony has, I think. |

Bought the new Panasonic DMP BDT-300 today, it also plays mkv files via the USB slot. Alas, it only accepts FAT32 files, so I'll have to split the film in two pieces.

So why do FAT32 MKV files have to be split into 4gb chunks? If that is the case, how can you watch a movie without it stopping right in the middle (if the MKV is bigger than 4gb in size)? Does this only apply to USB thumb drives, or does it apply to external hard drives hooked through an HDMI or USB cable as well?

HI
Have you considered the Dune Prime 3.0. It is BOTH a multi region Blu-Ray player (eg. you can buy Blu-Ray from any parts of the world and have no worries about it not playing on your player) and a HD media player. Pretty stable machine Goto http://dune-hd.com/hd_players/111-du...prime-3.0.html For more information |

ntfs does not have the same limitations so you can put movies over 4GB in size on the drive. its not a case of the movie stopping half way through just that the movie will not fit even if the drive is big enough. |
