The Digital version was on sale on the PS Store for 22.99 the other week, but I've seen that sale a couple times now so it could appear again soon. It's already back up to 29.99.

Getting it solely for The Last Revelation which is so underrated.

Heads up, but this week or last, 14.99 for the 29.99 Tomb Raider Remastered collection PS5 on the PS store sale. That is the lowest it's been.

That the show sucks? It seems even IGN disliked the show. Lara being a lesbian is inconsequential, but the constant crying is not in character. I totally got it in the 2013 game, since it was supposed to be her origin, but keeping her emotionally fragile is a betrayal of the character.

In any case, I just hope the makers of the show have no input (or have their work serve as inspiration) on the direction of future games. Also, I hope these remasters remind Crystal Dynamics about what this franchise should be about. As others have pointed out, we need actual tombs in our Tomb Raider games. Uncharted-style action is fine here and there, but should not be the focus.

It's funny you should mention The Descent and Tomb Raider (2013) since the latter directly references an iconic shot from the former.

I just realized I never got around to playing Rise of the Tomb Raider or Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I did enjoy Tomb Raider (2013), despite all the excessive gunplay that was at odds with the story told in the cinematics and the lack of actual tombs. Yeah, I gave it a free pass since it was an origin story. But I'd still like to play the sequels.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is okay, along with Tomb Raider PS3/PS4, but the games really suffer from a lack of Tombs. So off the mark to not have her entering a massive, epic tomb like in the classic first game. When she's spending 99% of her time outdoors, there's something that got lost with the developers IMO. Another reason I still haven't bought Shadow of the Tomb Raider despite some decent sales.

Tomb Raier 1 remaster is reminding me how to make a true Tomb Raiding game where Lara actually enters tombs. In that game, it's one tomb after the other and each level leads directly to the next section of larger tombs. Great. Tough, obscure puzzles at times usually solved by finding a hidden entrance somewhere or moving a block or lever. I got stumped on the sewer Tomb with draining or filling the water.

Rise of the Tomb Raider has one of the worst modes I've ever seen in a game called Survival mode, where you literally have 5 minutes or less before Lara starves or dies of thirst each time. There's no way to adjust it either, to scale it more realistically. Who starves in 5 minutes time after eating a big meal? Really bad design. Maybe she has a severe case of tapeworms.

See, I feel you. Although I enjoyed TR'13, they dropped the ball by not having the initial adventure on the island eventually lead her to a massive tomb below. Basically, make the island surface stuff a tutorial of sorts before you get to the real meat of the game: this massive, imposing tomb that is filled with many challenges and secrets.

To be fair, the game sure felt like it was headed in that direction, narratively speaking. So I assumed the sequels would pay off that build up.

I'm of the opinion that that the reboot trilogy only got better. I liked the 2013 game a lot for what it was, but I did find the combat too intrusive. With Rise, they dialed it back a bit and beefed up the tombs, and by the time of Shadow - which was developed by Eidos Montreal instead of Crystal Dynamics - it felt like they were actively trying to recapture some of the magic of the earlier games. Combat was dialed way back (to the point that a lot of gamers complained there wasn't enough of it, lololol) and there was more emphasis on exploration and puzzle-solving. I loved Shadow. I wish Eidos Montreal were working on the next game.

Dialed back combat sounds right up my alley. I love the Uncharted games (remember when people referred to the first game dismissively as "Dude Raider"?) and am fine with trying to borrow some of its combat (especially that of Uncharted 2) since those games clearly borrowed from Tomb Raider (although its puzzles were intentionally not in the same league since Uncharted is meant to play like a pulp action movie). However, I feel TR'13 overdid it, since Lara in gameplay came across like the offspring of John Rambo and John Matrix (with Paul Kersey and Frank Castle serving as her nannies).

So, yeah, if the sequels are as you say, I will be sure to get the discs ASAP to play through them.

I know I derided Tomb Raider (2013) for having too much combat, but gosh darn if this isn't impressive.

Have sequences like that serve as bookends for some massive tombs and you really have something there.

Oh and I'm aware the Lara featured there is a mod. But you'll get no complaints from me.

EDIT: BTW am I correct in assuming all three of these have the DLC on disc rather than voucher codes?

I forget if the DLC was on-disc for the first game. Tbh I wouldn't be disappointed if it's not, I don't recall the DLC being anything exceptional. The main draw of The Definitive Edition was the improved graphics.

In the case of the other two games, yes, the DLC is on the disc. The 20th Anniversary Celebration edition of Rise is basically the default PS4 version. It was a timed Xbox exclusive prior to that (which royally pissed off the fans) so when it hit PlayStation, they added some cool bonuses. As for Shadow, absolutely grab the Definitive Edition. The additional challenge tombs are excellent. I bought the season pass when Shadow came out and they released a new tomb each month, it was a blast.

According to DoesitPlay, DLC should be on disc for Tomb Raider Definitive (at least for ESRB, I'm guessing PAL is the same).

I picked up the remastered collection PS5 disc and I’m happy to report that the latest version is on the disc as of this post. I’m late to the party, but I’ve been enjoying the set quite a bit over the last couple of nights. Photo mode is pretty fun too.

Goofing off OOB in the TR2 training area.

Great news. My copy of the remastered trilogy is due to arrive on Tuesday. With that, my recent order of the survivor trilogy (I recently found out that not only do I have the PC version of TR'13 on disc but I also have the GOTY edition from GOG, though I don't recall ever purchasing the latter), and the upcoming remasters of IV, V, and VI, Lady Croft is certainly back in my life.

Heck, I even found my old PS1 discs and my PS2 copy of AOD.

EDIT:
I also found my PS2 copies of Legend and Anniversary, along with my PS3 copy of Underworld.

Looking closer at my GOG account, over there I have Tomb Raider - The Last Revelation, Tomb Raider Chronicles, Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness, Tomb Raider: Legend, Tomb Raider: Anniversary, Tomb Raider: Underworld, and Tomb Raider GOTY.

And... I have paperback copies of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: The Man of Bronze, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: The Lost Cult, and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: The Amulet of Power.

Sheesh! I am shocked I don't have either of the Angelina Jolie movies.
