Default How would you setup your tv in this room?

I'm going to post a couple pics of this living room below. Basically, I'm stuck on where to put the tv. If you look at my current gallery, you'll see the tv sits at a decent height on top of the stand.

The only thing I've been able to come up with is that I put the tv against the wall with the smaller window, and then put the couch in the middle of the room, right at the recommened 6.5 feet away for 50" and 1080p. But then I block the window? Also, that would screw up my bais lighting. Should I do it anyways?

I'm going to try and attach the bluprint of the living room too. This way you can tell the entrance of the room, and also where the two windows are.

Feedback is welcome, and again look at my gallery to see the furniture I have. Initiallly, I'll only have the purple couch and chair/ottoman.

ok, so I can't attach the bluprint, it's too big, and I don't know how to shrink a PDF file. Basically, the pics you see above is 1) the large window facing the street and the smaller window on the side wall. 2) the entrance to the living room would be if you were looking out the small window, and then immediately turn around to face the entrance. So the only untouched wall is the one opposite of the large window, and I can't see having the couch face away from that window. Thoughts?

hmm considering all your equipment i would probably suggest setting up on the wall with the small window. maybe you can cover the window up or something?

For the blueprint (which would help immensely), open the pdf and get it all viewable...then do a 'print screen' (button above your number pad). That copies the screen to your 'clipboard'. Go to MSPaint and paste. Then cut what you want, create a new file and paste again. Save as jpg, and post it here! See example:

alright, thanks for the tip. So I cut out just where the living room is, but kind of left a little on the top so you can see the front door.

So, the bottom wall is the one with the small window, the left wall is the one with the big windows, the right wall is completely blank, and the top is where you enter the living room.

BTW, I move into this place on Monday, so I can share alot more photos then as well when I actually have the furniture in the room.

ice , I like the idea of placing the display on the blank wall (hung on the wall if you can !) That gives you wall for the surrounds to hang if you go that route .
it also puts the big window behind you & the smaller one to the side ~ (which I know you will cover).
Good luck & I like the new place .

I didn't like the idea of putting my back to the window, especially that large of a window. That's kind of why I thought I would cover the smaller window, but that kind of sucks too, doesn't it?

This is going to drive me nuts. Also, if I do the blank wall, I will have to move the cable outlet, that is if I get cable. The advantage of the wall with the smaller window is the outlet is right there.

so kind of like this perhaps? It just feels like I'm leaving to much space all over the place. And again, not sure on having my back to the window...

red is plasma / black is couch and side chair

As far as the cable outlet is concerned ice . You can always run A cable along the baseboard , There are no doorways & they have things you can use to attach the cable to make it look good

honestly, I don't feel good about putting my back to such a large window. Seems stupid, you know? What if I put curtains over the small window, and keep that closed pretty much all the time??? Anyone???

Hey Ice!! I have a total of 9 windows in my viewing room!!!

I think what matters most is the location of those windows, I have no trouble with anything until the sun sets (west wall) and then the glare can be unbearable at times. So much so, that we have considered ditching the roman shades for curtains. I assume the sun rising on the east would be the same, hard to tell as I have no windows on that side. I think if it is on a north or south wall, you wll be fine.

not really "in the mood", it's that I'm moving into a place that I've never seen before with my own two eyes, it's all been handled through email and pictures. The living room layout is making me crazy, but I think I'm leaning towards putting everything in front of the small window, but then I'm also wondering what to do with the surrounds? Well, check it out when you can get away from your firewall, and let me know. I'll physically be at this place next week, so I can then put up pics of my actually furniture.

and I don't mean putting my back to that large window as an issue with sun or anything, it just never seems right to put my back to such a large window, but instead be seated so I can look to my right, and look right out the window. You know?

Maroon 5?....are you serious? It's a side-by-side 2 level townhouse with a full basement, unfinished. I'm digging everything about the place from what I can tell so far, but the damn living room is making me crazy! Will you be able to check out the pics from home?
