Default Living Room setup?

Just moved into a new place and trying to arrange the furniture in a convenient setup. I'm about to starting buying piece by piece a 5.1 setup etc for a nice little HT in the living room.

Problem is I dont know what the best furniture configuration would be. The only place I can see putting the TV (because its a plasma and the glare issue) is in front of the window.

So I ask of you. Help me decide on a decent layout. My main concern is being directly in front of the screen and having room on both sides for towers.

See the attached pictures... Thanks in advance!

My base starting equipment:
42" LG Plasma (only 720p but good enough for now)
Pioneer VSX-818VK
Panasonic DMP-BD50 (analog outs to Pioneer for full HD codecs)
Pioneer DV-410K

Can you get some sort of curtain or anything to go over the window? I'd hate to think that people can just stare into the place.

I'd get curtains for the windows and then put your TV where your couch is. Move your couch out, turn it around, and start building your HT.

Good luck and post pictures of the changes.

You don't want your TV, speakers, & subwoofer against the window. The sub may actually rattle your window. The best place for them is where you currently have your sofa. The solution for the glare is curtains or blinds.

I'd love to put it along the wall with the couch, but then I dont know where the couch should go. No wall opposite of that couch so I'd have no seats directly in front of the TV. See the next pic.

Curtains are ordered. I kinda just threw everything together so I could enjoy some entertainment between unpacking.

The love seat wall is an option. Hopefully the blinds can control the sun enough to get rid of any glare.

Just turn the couch around and put it facing the wall it is currently on, but on the other side of the rug. You'll be good to go.

The sofa doesn't necessarily need to be against a wall (in fact most home-theater designs advise against it). If you use the love seat wall, the sofa would probably have to go by the window.

Or you could just take Ricshoe's advice.

Post a pic of the love-seat wall

Yeah that wall is begging to display the tv. Just find something for the glare and you're off to the races.

The wall thats directly across from the window, where the loveseat is.

Thanks guys for all the help, I appreciate it. Once I decide on a position I can run all the cabling behind the baseboards.

Love seat wall or sofa wall will work. Your personal preference as to which to use... good luck
