Well after months of research and lurking I took the plunge and bought a 46XBR8! I went back and forth between it and the 50"Elite Kuro and went with my gut. I told myself I wouldn't spend more than 3 grand and I got it at $2999.99 CDN. I could have gotten a Kuro 101 for the same price by the way.
Now I have a question for the brains of the forum. Can all the "bandwith" of signals, 1.3 a/b, deep colour, etc. be carried by a decent HDMI cable, such as the one marketed by Energy. I know that digital signals either work or don't work and spending your kid's university money isn't necessary but I want to make sure that all the "goods" are being sent to my new toy. thanks |

You did right for yourself... the XBR8 is an amazing television, and you got it at a fair price.
Contrary to common myth, there ARE subpar HDMI cables out there that you may end up unhappy with. Reports on the Energy are good, so far, so you may as well go with it. |

Yeah, I 'm happy with the purchase, especially when I look back on how much I have paid for other equipment over the last few decades. I think we are in a real golden age of "toys"!
I figured that Energy/Klipsch wouldn't put their name on sub-par components so I went ahead and got the cable. |

I'm only 32, and I remember the pitiful TV's I grew up with. I remember all the other kids thinking I was rich because we had 2 TV's, a computer, a VHS player, AND an ATARI... I have more than that in modern equivalents in my bedroom alone, and I'm poor. I can hardly imagine what amusements we'll have in, say, another 20 years. |

I know I read here somewhere about the audio sync and 24fps. I have audio sync issues when I play my panasonic bmp-bd30 to my xbr8 at 1080p24fps. I am playing through an Elite 94. What settings can I change to sync up the sound to the video, thanks

Go on Sony style under service<software<televisions<model number just make sure you have a flash drive handy. You most likely need a firmware update.

After trying everything I could think of last night and giving up I thought I was screwed! I turned my system on today and everything is perfectly in sync! I can't explain it but I'm not going to examine it too closely. The picture on this set is incredible, it seems to improve the sound it's so good. If anyone out there is on the fence on purchasing one of these or the 55 inch, if you can still find one, all I can say is run, don't walk, and get one while you can. Like the Kuro these babies are discontinued and won't be around much longer!

Congrats on your XBR8!
I also have a 46" XBR8 and it is by far the nicest set I have ever owned. Also had audio sync problems using a Panasonic BD80 blu-ray player when using the 1080p/24 setting and analog 7.1 connection. Found out that the XBR8's motion enchantment feature was the issue. By disabling the motion enhancement feature I had no audio sync issues. Have since sold my Panasonic player and now have a Denon 2010ci player. The Denon has source direct output and this allows me to use the motion enhancement (CLEAR) on the XBR8 with no issues. |

Prices on the XBR8's have tumbled - I was able to pick a 46" up for $2100 delivered from an authorized dealer. Spectacular TV for that kind of $$$!
I went back and forth between the xbr8 and the 52xbr9, but the picture quality of the 8 won me over even though it's 6" smaller. |

Congratulations! You won't regret the decision, I decided between the same 2 TVs and am more than pleased with the 8.

The supply is rapidly diminishing and more than likely all you would be able to get is display units. If your some reason you would need to exchange a set your going to be out of luck. |
