Default The Exorcist Thread. All 5 Films.

All right, for the life of me, I still haven't seen The Exorcist 3. Does anyone know how good it is compared to the other 4 films?

Yeah, Exorcist 2: The Heretic was better than Exorcist: The Beginning, in my opinion. Since I haven't seen the third film, this how I rank them.

1. The Exorcist
2. Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist
3. Exorcist 2: The Heretic
4. Exorcist: The Beginning

Exorcist 3 is the second best movie in the franchise. Exorcist II is one of the worst movies I have ever seen, period.

I agree that EXORCIST 3 is the second best of the series-- but I would
add that when I first saw it in the theatre I was very disappointed and thought it was boring!

I think I was expecting more spectacle than a moody psychological thriller.
I rediscovered the movie on video and now think it's an excellent film.

Exorcist 3 is much better than the other 3 sequels/prequels, but doesn't approach the greatness of the original. Still, judged on its own terms, it's a good movie and definitely worth watching.

I'd rank them:
1) The Exorcist
2) Exorcist 3
3) Dominion
4) Exorcist: The Beginning
5) Exorcist 2

In my opinion, I would say there are two different versions of the original:

1. Original Cut
2. The Version You've Never Seen.

I would put TVYNS, above the orgininal because I thought there were more scenes going into Regan's decent into possession.

That being said, I would rank as follows:

1. TVYNS
2. The Original Cut
3. Exorcist 3
4. Dominion
5. The Beginning

DONT EVEN WATCH HERETIC. That WAS THE WORST MOVIE EVER!!!!

The Exorcist TC
The Exorcist III: Legion
The Exorcist TVYNSB
Exorcist: The Beginning
Exorcist II: The Heretic
Dominion << yeah sorry, wasn't good enough to compete even with Legion, wasn't bad enough to be an interesting failure like Heretic. It wasn't entertaining in a schlocky way like The Beginning, and of course isn't remotely terrifying like the original. Cerebral as it was, it was also a cure for insomnia. A slog of a nothing that didn't even bother to illicit any emotion or visceral thrill. Vacuous. I definitely see why Morgan Creek hit the panic button.

I was soooooo disappointed with that one. When I heard it was gonna be more moody and psychological than Renny Harlin's version and with Paul Schrader involved... I thought it was gonna be a classic! What a letdown! Harlin's attempt was mediocre as well.

I'd rather watch Exorcist II than either of them.....

Yeah - I was able to stream Exorcist 3 on Amazon Prime last month and I have to be honest: It wasnt nearly as good as I as expecting with quite a bit of praise being said about it. Sort of cheesey. George C. Scotts character was entirely unlikeable. I really didnt get into the Brad Dourif / Father Karras act either. Just not into it.

Its worth a watch but Id never watch it again. The rest of the Exorcist films are atrocious.

It's great.

Directed by William Peter Blatty (the writer of the original) himself, only his second and last time in the directors chair. Just like the Die Hard franchise, 1 and 3 are the ones; forget the rest.

Exorcist II and III are mostly useful as a source of soundbites on death metal albums.

Was "The Evil Dead" being considered as an Exorcist rip-off, back in 1982?

I've had the pleasure of experiencing The Exorcist (the version you've never seen) in theaters back in 2000.

The Exorcist, The Exorcist 3 are the better of the franchise.
