Wrong! They upgraded the PS3 and lowered the price. Sure it involves marketing, but it offers greater value for the customers.

Ahh sweet reality sets in. Or at least it should, the type of person who believed the above being what they are.
lol, so some people think new system announced (or even just rumoured), people slow down the buying just before the new model streets = people not interested in the new system. Yes that makes sense

Sometimes "we" think that we are the only smart ones. 99% of customers behave the same way when they have the same information. Let's face it, gamers get their info from the net and they knew what was coming. We are not "talking" about J6P here.

All Sony needs to do is somehow virally market their ads. I have to say those are really good ads.

Well, the real problem in Japan wasn't that no one wanted a PS3. There weren't any PS3s to be bought.

Sony stopped shipping new PS3s to Japanese retailers quite a while ago, and for the past two weeks it was nigh on impossible to buy one anywhere in the country. There are numerous reports of Japanese retailers being sold out for the past few weeks of PS3 fats.

I saw an actual PS3 tv ad during a prime time sport event last week!! Sony putting that $82m marketing budget to good use

Let's hope titles like Uncharted2 get prime time advertising too.

This Christmas is looking very, very good for the PlayStation family

Neat-o!

Note: The slim launch (150,832 in 1 week) outsold the actual PS3 launch (88,000 units first 2 days)!

This is kind of a meaningless statement, because there were way more slims on the shelves at launch than original PS3s. You can't sell what doesn't exist...

We all know the reason why the launch sold so few units, doesn't make the information I posted any less valid or interesting. It's good news!

Sorry, but we'll have to agree to disagree. The sales numbers now are valid, interesting, and good news. Any comparison drawn to launch is not.

I won't be suprise that soon you has to line up to get a ps3 slim like wii especially during holiday season. If economy is better than it now ps3 slim will definite be out of stock easily.

The PS3 Slim should be invading the US sometime after. We're seeing a lot of progress here, Gentlemen.

We have three I might need one more. We have four HDTVs. That poor little one only has an old Toshiba HD DVD player for playing plain old DVDs.
