Wrong! They upgraded the PS3 and lowered the price. Sure it involves marketing, but it offers greater value for the customers.

lol, so some people think new system announced (or even just rumoured), people slow down the buying just before the new model streets = people not interested in the new system. Yes that makes sense

Well, the real problem in Japan wasn't that no one wanted a PS3. There weren't any PS3s to be bought.

Sony stopped shipping new PS3s to Japanese retailers quite a while ago, and for the past two weeks it was nigh on impossible to buy one anywhere in the country. There are numerous reports of Japanese retailers being sold out for the past few weeks of PS3 fats.

I saw an actual PS3 tv ad during a prime time sport event last week!! Sony putting that $82m marketing budget to good use

Let's hope titles like Uncharted2 get prime time advertising too.

This Christmas is looking very, very good for the PlayStation family

This is kind of a meaningless statement, because there were way more slims on the shelves at launch than original PS3s. You can't sell what doesn't exist...

And it also sold 150,252k Slims in 3 days. 600 PS3 phat units during the week.

Sorry, but we'll have to agree to disagree. The sales numbers now are valid, interesting, and good news. Any comparison drawn to launch is not.

I won't be suprise that soon you has to line up to get a ps3 slim like wii especially during holiday season. If economy is better than it now ps3 slim will definite be out of stock easily.
