Hi all,
I was wondering, is there any method to remove forced subtitles from TF1 releases (or any release for that matter) during playback with English audio? Any non HTPC methods known? Any hi-powered BD player that allows to perform operations initially forbidden to user? PS3 BREW? Anything? ![]() To mods: this thread should probably be moved. I created this thread in SB section as I know for sure most of SB collectors experience this problem. |

I think software players for PCs can remove and add subtitles. But when I try to use the Audio or Subtitle buttons on my LG BH200 player, I get the "this function disabled" error message.

Well forced subtitles pretty much say it all.
![]() If they were removeable they would be called subtitles! That is really stupid from TF1 since most of the release are originally english it's pretty lame to assume nobody in France speaks English and would NEED subtitles. I'm so glad it's not like that here. ![]() Cheers, Gui. |

I hate the forced French subtitles too.. It is not just TF1 that does it... I bought the French BD release of Taken a month ago, can't remember the studio name but it starts with a P something, and it too has forced French subs when English is selected.
Studio Canal also has done it before with their releases. I own the 2-disks (DC and Theatre Cut) Terminator 2 HD-DVD and one of the disks has forced French subs with English audio. I have three BD players, Oppo BDP-83, LG BH200 and an Australian PS3, none of the players can remove the forced French subs. ![]() But it can be removed by AnyDVD HD if you have a HTPC. There is an option in AnyDVD HD called "Allow Prohibited User Operations". If you select this option, you can then turn off the forced French subs. |

Pathé/Europacorp. Another studio who likes those forced subs.

Well then, I have to drive all you OCD guys mad - today I got my copy of German Wanted SB, and it was... ( www.dramabutton.com ) UNSEALED! Yup, crime against humanity and nature but I would have opened it anyway
![]() Back to the topic - I guess I'm just gonna have to stick with my HTPC for those forced titles. It's a shame, cause I wanted to buy an external player that could play absolutely everything I stick into it (you know, all region-coded BDs, all region-coded DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes, DAT tapes, vinyls, dinner plates, etc. ![]() ![]() |
