I’m REALLY excited about all the positive reviews. I’m also psyched to hear they kept a specific element from the book that I was worried would be cut.m but it appears to be very intact.

Night of the Scarecrow I liked.
The trailer for this doesn't seem to be offering any new ideas yet. Maybe the film will have more depth. I don't know. It's not drawing me in as a horror fan yet. I'll need to see who the main hero is.
Will the clown have some depth to it?

Was this based on Barker's book? Only found a short story called "How the Clown Domingo de Y Barrondo Fell Over the Edge of the World" (2009). Okay, he only recommended this book, didn't write it, had to look again to see it more clearly.

Clown in a Cornfield Paperback – December 28, 2021
by Adam Cesare (Author). Not Clive Barker as that initial post listed.

Should they choose to adapt the second book, that is a major part of it.

Thumbs up

As a big fan of Eli Craig's 'Tucker & Dale vs. Evil' and the slasher genre in general, I approached 'Clown in a Cornfield' with considerable anticipation. Buoyed by positive reviews, my expectations were not only met but exceeded. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised it was this good. While it isn’t some brilliant film, it does execute its objectives with precision and flair.

The narrative and its small-town backdrop evoked shades of Eli Roth's 'Thanksgiving,' yet 'Clown in a Cornfield' distinguishes itself through superior craftsmanship. Eschewing the juvenile script and grating characters that plagued ‘Thanksgiving,’ even the unlikable characters here are funny without being too obnoxious. I really liked a good number of the characters. Katie Douglas is very likable as Quinn, embodying the final girl archetype with compelling charisma. Without divulging spoilers, I found myself genuinely invested in the fates of the surviving characters, particularly enjoying a cute narrative twist involving a couple of them.

‘Clown in a Cornfield’ is a blast, and I ardently hope to see the remaining installments of the book series adapted for the screen. While I haven't read them, the synopsis of the second book alone has me eager to witness its translation into film. It would be great to see these characters again.

To any horror aficionados reading this with the opportunity to experience 'Clown in a Cornfield' in a theatrical setting, I implore you to do so. It deserves your support. If a theatrical viewing is not possible, be sure to rent or purchase it when you can.

On a side note, I really enjoyed the various artists' soundtrack. Unfortunately, I'm having difficulty locating a comprehensive list of the music used. If anyone is able to identify any of the tracks, please comment with the song titles. I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm hoping it does well at the box office for an indie horror flick, but I'm worried as I personally only got the trailer before The Ugly Stepsister. Not Hell of a Summer, Death of a Unicorn, Drop, Sinners, etc... Sinners would have been awesome exposure for it. Did anyone have the trailer in a theater with anything?

It played a couple times. It was the R rated trailer too. Think. Ash was one of the movies it played before.

Showtimes just showed up at our local AMC Classic! Going Thursday at 4PM.

BTW, we saw the trailer for this before The Luckiest Man in America.

Clown in a Cornfield is based on a popular book series, which I haven't read. But the timing couldn't be better since clowns are so loved in horror these days. The problem here is that this one doesn't have enough of a stamp on the sub genre to really make a mark.

It tries to deliver the goods in terms of bloody violence, and our lead final girl is the best part. But the script is pretty stock with very little pop in the way of characters and dialogue overall. There's some fun to be had, but nothing very memorable unfortunately.

My local AMC just added a bunch of daytime screenings for the week. (They previously only had it showing at night.) Perhaps it's tracking better than anticipated?

Whatever the reason, I'll now be able to catch it on the big screen, as the previous times didn't work for me.

I haven't seen a single preview or anything for this, which is great for me (to avoid spoilers).

Seeing an Early Access showing tonight at 7!

Well, this was... not great.

Not bad, just VERY by the numbers, predictable and bland. Acting was OK for what it was, the jokes often fell flat, some of the kills were decent though.

same here. I watched it last night and thought it was one slight notch up from absolute garbage. I hated every single character in it. Lame, unfunny jokes and other than a few decent kills, zero suspense.
