Great movie and will pick it up Day 1 probably. Watched it all the time as a kid. Easily one of Morgan Freeman's best roles. Very quotable as well, lol.

Oooohh! I had a feeling they’d drop this after their “Stand and Deliver” release … and it’s about time! Day One!

Good news, Lean on Me is now available to order at MovieZyng, and is still holding to its May 27th release date. I thought it might have been delayed to June or later after it didn't get listed with other May titles last week.

Add the Tupac / Mickey Rourke minor classic “Bullet” to that list and thats pretty much the lot.

The review is a little much, but it’s really not that good of a movie.

I enjoyed the movie when I watched it on cable back in the 1990s. Unfortunately, the movie doesn't hold up very well. It's pretty corny....

Quite an interesting review. Clark was no "fascist", a term I really wish would join several other words in the stop using box. Anyway, that school as way too many are still today, was a cesspool of violence, truancy, teacher apathy, and kids that that were unmotivated, undisciplined, and lost. Clark was no miracle worker, but he gave a damn, and he provided structure that was sorely lacking.

Excellent!

I teach for a living, so movies like Lean on Me are difficult for me to enjoy.

I love, love, LOVE the Fourth Season of The Wire. I feel like The Wire NAILED what teaching is really like.

Hey, what can I say? I'm not the biggest contrarian out there, but my own life experiences have made me resent the message this film attempts to send. Even without all those artificially sweetened "true story" elements Lean on Me is pretty paint-by-numbers stuff, but boldly painting the real-life Joe Clark as a "real hero" -- which, due to Morgan Freeman's commanding performance, has sadly blurred the line between drama and history, as it usually does -- is just too much for me personally.

In any case, as I mentioned in the "hilarious" review, fans of the film will love this Blu-ray as it really is an outstanding restoration. I'm glad you all will get to enjoy Lean on Me looking its best.

However...

That's barely even debatable, but "fascist" should never be put in the "stop using box". ("Woke", on the other hand...)

I've definitely heard that before from other educators.
