Default Blu-ray Movie Review: Dragon’s Lair

This week, I had a chance to play with Dragon's Lair on Blu-ray disc. I used the Playstation 3 to play this new release of the popular game of the 80s. Playstation's Bluetooth remote control was used to control the game.

I have to admit that I'm not a huge fan of Dragon's Lair, but the evolution of the game throughout the years and even decades now (the first version came out 1983) is very interesting and surprising. Dragon's Lair is in a class of its own and it can't be compared to any other games on the market.

In this game, you become Dirk the Daring, and you are on a quest to rescue the Fair Princess Daphne who has been kidnapped and is being held captive by Singe the Evil Dragon. To do this you must survive a perilous journey (sort of!) and defeat all your adversaries. You have to make your way through the castle and caverns below the castle by using your controller to move and wield the sword.

I bought this game/movie the other day as well. I've always heard of it, but never got around to playing it. I actually kind of liked it. There's just nothing like it. Anyone know if Space Ace and Dragon Lair:Time Warp are getting a release...or if they already have?

Time Warp is available. Although I bought it on Amazon early July, I just got it two weeks ago.

I like time warp better than the other two. It's more like Space Ace with the constant action, and not being confined to just one room for the action.

Last time I checked Amazon for Time Warp they were fresh out except for a couple of way overpriced 3rd party sellers. DL sells it on their own site for 50; still a lil too much for me.

They are both out. Just watch Amazon for availability (link through this site) as I think Digital Leisure only presses a bunch when stocks get pretty low.

?

I've had the Blu-ray release of Dragon's Lair since shortly after its release in April of 2008. Why so much sudden interest in the title?

As far as the gameplay goes, it's so-so by modern standards, but it's an interesting look at one of the more curious (and largely extinct) genres in video game history.

For me, the developers commentary was what really made the purchase worthwhile, more so than the actual game itself or the improved visuals.
