I am a little shocked at how little press/excitement this set has gotten. Personally, I am far more excited for this than Hitchcock's silents!

Don't see why not, but it may take a few days before these show up.

You and me both. It’s like people don’t realize or care that this has never had an HD release before? It isn’t available in HD anywhere. People usually talk about this and AH Presents in the threads about his Universal films. Maybe they just haven’t heard the news yet?

While I was excited about this announcement earlier today, on checking Via Vision's website listing page for this title and seeing there won't be subtitles, it's a disappointment.

What I was also looking for on the listing page was whether Imprint Films (Via Vision) had done their own scans for The Alfred Hitchcock Hour.

Pre-ordering the first season directly from Via Vision works out at over £60 not including shipping to the UK (based on the exchange rate).

Pretty close to the same thing, just hour-long episodes instead of half an hour

Yes, their Facebook post detailing this release says they did their own “brand NEW 2K scans” of the original camera negatives of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour.

I didn't know a thing about this until today. Pre-ordered! The packaging looks great! 3 of these hard boxes won't be too bad, only a little wider footprint width than their dvd complete series set that uses jumbo cases. But if they do all 7 individual seasons of Presents like this. I'm going to need a bigger shelf!

Very encouraging. I am only familiar with the Presents show, and was initially confused that this set was that. Nice to hear good things about this show!

You can check out this series on The Roku Channel and Peacock, I believe, if you have either of those. Neither service has it in HD, of course.

It's a hit or miss with each episode. Some episodes are downright amazing while some others will make you feel like you just wasted away one hour of your life.

It's really just a continuation of presents. Subject matter, themes, all basically the same. Seemed like it might have had a higher budget, as presents some of the episodes feel a bit condensed.

There are some truly fantastic episodes of hour, a particular favorite of mine is the second season premiere with Ray Milland and a bunch of other mental patients taking over an insane asylum.

I wonder if there's any chance that a "standard" version will be released later, without the case or the book. I love this show, but this release really is rather pricey for me.

Seems odd that it only got a 2k scan, though---35mm material should always have a 4k scan to start with.

One of my own personal favourite episodes is also one of the very last ones shown---"Night Fever" starring Colleen Dewhurst, from the third season.

As for the difference between the half-hour version of the Hitchcock show, and the hour.... As someone else once noted, half-hour episodes are focused mainly on the plot, where the hour-long episodes have time to develop the characters.

As I said in one of the other threads, Imprint standard editions aren't unheard of but they're very rare.
