Yeah, also the booklet appears to be entirely new - not reusing essays like some of the Arrow ones I’ve noticed

So it looks like the 4K drops an essay by Philip Kemp from the LE? Really annoying when they do that. I prefer slimmer releases though so will probably still exchange the LE for this.

I don't think this was done by FiM unless they omitted the credit by mistake. It says disc authoring done by Luke Louca.

It's possible. Could anybody share a photo of the credits in the booklet?

Jesus, if true, how many times have boutiques done that now? It’s hella disrespectful. Could be worse I suppose, they could actually credit David but spell his name incorrectly. “Disc authored by Dovid Macenzy.”

Definitely at least twice with Arrow, once or twice with Vinegar Syndrome and now this. David should tack on his logo at the end credits again.

Review is up…

For those that have seen at least the Kino disc, is it worth the upgrade from the excellent MoC Blu-ray? Love the film but I’m trying to upgrade only when it’s substantially better.

I picked up the Kino for the extras as it’s not as revelatory an upgrade when it comes to the master but that disc is badly encoded, so the more appropriate comparison can be made when Eureka’s 4K comes out. I’m looking forward to comparing all three.

Kinda like calling the Eureka release a "4L" disc?

It was. It sounds like they forgot to change the credits from the previous BD.

How badly encoded ? I just bought the Kino during Targets sale , Great price . But if Eureka is a major upgrade I can return the Kino unopened . Though it will easily cost me over double to import from what I paid .

I have never seen this movie but looks to be one of the top 10 westerns ever made . Great cast , I don't think anyone can go wrong .

Badly encoded in Kino’s usual "set and forget manner" like so many of their releases with pixelated highlights. I’d recommend you not to pay attention to the skies and you should be fine.

It's never been one of my favourites but you could easily make the case for it being top 10 and many would put it there. I always preferred watching later and slightly lesser-known Gary Cooper Westerns such as The Hanging Tree and the quite brutal Man of the West.

Still, High Noon is a classic. I'm intending to get the Eureka shortly to replace my Blu-ray.

Got mine in today unexpectedly:

I have not watched this movie yet, so looking forward to watching it. Gary Cooper was one of my father's favourite actors, and he always mentioned this film. So at long last, I will be watching one of his favourite movies.

I wonder if eureka will release Shane on 4K? My father also loved that movie.

So David is credited in the booklet. What was that other forum member talking aboot then?

All is right with the world.

And, yes, would love Eureka to re-release Shane on UHD. This release of High Noon gives me hope.
