Even if it's just the ABC Family editions I'd still be interested. More character development (the Dursleys in SS/PS; Colin Creevy/Justin Fitch Fletchley in COS); more great moments from the book (the Malfoys mysterious visit to Borgin and Burkes, Harry questioning if he's the heir of Slytherin, and more revealed about Lockheart's character); and just some fun moments (Hermione getting angry at Ron for cheating on her exams, Harry snapping back at Snape during their first Potions class, Ron telling Hermione that they're now friends, and Harry's inability to separate himself from the Mirror of Erised.)

It's strange we still haven't been given details for these Ultimate Editions now that they're up for preorder on Amazon.com. Hopefully within the next couple days we'll hear something, especially since the bonus content for the Half-Blood Prince BD has now been revealed.

Posted today on digitalbits:

On 12/8 (same day as Half Blood Prince), "Warner is also releasing a pair of titles we've known about for a while now, but we finally have more details - new DVD and Blu-ray Ultimate Editions of the first two Harry Potter films, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (SRP $39.92 each on DVD and $49.99 on Blu-ray) Each will include both theatrical and "extended" versions of the films, 48-page photo books, new cast introductions, screen-test footage, all-new featurettes, Digital Copy versions and many (of not all) of the extras from the previous versions as well. You'll also get new In Movie Experiences and Maximum Movie Mode options on the Blu-ray versions featuring director Chris Columbus, complete with PIP video, photos and artwork. Note that these are large, oversized box sets, not standard cases."

I'm assuming the 48 page books means it'll be in those nice book cases Warner has been putting together lately, like my copies of Batman and The Matrix have. But either way, sounds cool, will probably pick them up, or perhaps wait till Christmas for.

If they are in oversized box sets then the books could be a completely seperate bonus item.

Not just pics. They have the specs list also. Sounds good.

The DVD ones will be 5 discs each. The Blu-Ray version will apperantly be 3 discs each.

This is delectable.

And I can't wait for Cuarón's film to get the same treatment.

This looks good, and it's what I've been waiting for, but I feel the need to hold off. I'd be really pissed if they only get up to movie 6 and then release all new box sets with new case designs, etc.

Unless there's some official word that this Ultimate Edition design is meant to be carried through all 8 films?

Nah, given the fact that Blu-ray discs hold so much more than DVDs. The Blu sets are probably 1 disc for theatrical release, 1 disc for extended edition (altho I wish they had just done seamless branching or something on 1 Blu), and a 3rd Blu for bonus content.

Actually, it's probably:

disc 1: theatrical feature, extended feature, and picture-in-picture extras
disc 2: featurettes and the like
disc 3: digital copy

Do you guys think the extended edition are the disappointing ABC versions with the deleted scenes put in it?

And when will Potter 3-5 come out and do you think the upcoming Half blood prince release is the ultimate editios or are we gonna wait along time for that one. because they kind of have to release them quick because of the 8 hour documentary with 1 hour for each movie

I am really confused about this
