Any news or info on "Dances with Wolves" coming to Blu-ray? Good lord, that film is spectacular and I am hoping the 4-hour director's cut will be included.

This is one of my favourite films. Would love to get it on blu.

Pity my kids hate it

How do you convince kids that good quality movies don't have to have lots of explosions and transfoming robots?

Yeah, but there are no English subs when the Indians are speaking in their native tongue.

Poor image quality compared to the German release. And the upcoming UK release may use the poorer French compression.

I just hope that it's the directors cut. I know some did not like the cut but persoanlly this is one film where the directors cut was actually better IMO. It opended up so much more of the story between Dunbar and Kicking Bird. It's rare that I prefer the extended cuts of films.

I hope the US version of the BD has seamless branching so we can choose the theatrical or director's cut ala Gladiator, Close Encounters, Blade Runner, etc.

The German one is the extended version. Pretty nice PQ as well.

I will certainly wait for the region 1 USA version, but hopefully we will get it in 2010 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the film.

Actually, people have posted on other forums that there are English subtitles for the Sioux parts only on the German BR. It is region B locked though.

I think the french edition is great. If you have ever seen the movie before, you know the general idea of what the indians are talking about, so it is a great blu until the US version debuts.

I can confirm the German Kinowelt release does have English subs when Lakota is spoken. If you have a region free player, I recommend this release over the French Pathe Fox release where various reports have been posted about poor image quality. Also read there is no English subs for Lakota dialogue as well on the French release. German release has 7.1 DTS HD Master Audio.

Great film...hopefully we get all the cuts. I saw it on AMC not too long ago. Not sure if it was the DC though.

There aren't any Indians in the feature whatsoever.

For the USA release, I'm hoping they're going to have both cuts of the film via seamless branching and audio commentaries. Hopefully there'll be another disc housing the other extras and hopefully a new documentary. The 20th Anniversary is in 2010 so it would be obvious to time a Blu-ray release then.
