Just found this the other day when scrolling through Prime and wasn't sure if I'd like it. Nearly passed on it but am glad I gave it a try as I thought it was fantastic. The idea of a 'traditional' afterlife or a virtual one driven by capitalism and people in the real world to foot the bill is pretty fascinating.
[Show spoiler]And even in this model it is separated by class with some people barely getting by on a limited data floor with practically no amenities, tv dinner quality meals etc. whereas some on other floors people are treated like kings with full-time concierge and tech support. For example, it was sad to see elderly people low on data with no money to purchase a view through the window. I had a hunch pretty much immediately that the main character was killed in foul play and it's interesting to see the clues slowly build up.

I guess with season 2 coming out soon, I should finally get around to watching season 1... but maybe I'll wait and just watch them both once season 2 ends lol

Wonder what took them so long though, filming for season 2 ended in April 2021. Seems like a long time to sit on it, doesn't seem like post production should have taken nearly a year lol But I guess it's typical for this show, season 1 finished filming in May 2019 but Amazon waited until May 2020 to release it.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they sit on this show for almost a year each season, but at least it's finally coming soon... in a month where there are several other shows dropping on other services. It is a sitcom though, so they're easy to fit in to a "schedule".

Seen the first two episodes of the second season and gotta say I'm not liking it. Feels kinda weak compared to the first.

But, its quality is still better than of a Netflix show.

I just finished Season 2. I enjoyed it the same like Season 1, but I hated that it was so short and the Season 2 Cliffhanger is very mean. I hope there will be a Season 3

The whole plot with the detective is still unresolved too.

Almost couldn't believe that finale was the finale. This season was way too short, and ended things pretty abruptly. Still enjoyed it, but man, why only 7 episodes?

From what I read they blame it on COVID.

Them too? It may be controversial to say, but that has become a scapegoat.

This season just wasn't as good as the first although the first season was nothing to write home about, to be honest.

COVID restrictions definitely played a large part in some of the season's wonkiness and you can tell. Unrestricted, we probably get 10-episodes and more measured storytelling. Filming took place in January 2021, so it all lines up. It is what it is.

But I still enjoyed season 2--I just wish we had more of it and I think season 1 is excellent. Smart, funny, charming, great actor chemistry, and enough intrigue from episode to episode to keep me watching. That carries over enough to S2 but it just needed more content. Kevin Bigley was a big standout in the season season. He steals every scene he's in.

Tried to cram in too much plot at the expense of what made the first series enjoyable - character and comedy.

Well, they only had seven episodes. I would imagine the storyline was envisioned with more but hopefully the third gives more time for things to breath. I still enjoyed the second and got a lot of laughs out of it but it did feel a bit rushed.

Since Amazon claims the show "has become a bona fide hit", maybe they'll actually get this out sooner than their usual cycle. It's weird that it takes them a year almost to begin production, and while filming only lasts 2-3ish months, it takes them a year to actually release it. And COVID isn't the only reason, season 1 filmed from March 5th to May 10th 2019 so they didn't have to worry about that then, and even considering post production, 9 days shy of a full year in between is a long ass time.

Maybe they'll do 10 more and also add the three episodes they most likely had to drop.
