It doesn't look like the trailer with the voice-over of "Boots" is included on the disc, does it? Shame!

To be honest, I kind of love this trend as of late. Between this, The Creator and Sinners, the aspect ratio is really having a moment right now and I hope to see more of it in strange and personal projects such as these.

Wow. I forgot The Creator was shot like that. Might have to bump it up higher in the to watch list. I wasn't completely over the moon about Sinners but it did look gorgeous. Wouldn't be surprised if it got cinematography gold next year but we'll have to see if it gets put up against One Battle After Another. PTA always delivers visually.

Do so, I saw it projected on a standard scope screen in my neighborhood and it was honestly breathtaking. It was also my first right proper UHD disc cherry and it was a stunner to boot.

My non-steel 4k preorder on Amazon has now updated to actual cover art, so hopefully that is solid evidence that it's actually coming out and not being canceled in lieu of a steelbook-only 4k release

(although another preorder I had this year updated with real cover art, and then it was only on release day when Amazon canceled the order because it was not coming out, so idk)

A standard (non steelbook) preorder is now available at Orbit DVD. So this isn't getting a SB?

Street date is 9/23 - close to NOTLD '90. This'll make a nice double feature

Kraven had front and back artwork for months and then a month or so before release, listings were pulled from everywhere. Maybe it gets one, but artwork isn't a guarantee. The standard wasn't announced in the press release.

Sarah Polley's drama 'Women Talking' from 2022 was also shot in that AR. However there's not been that many 2.76:1 movies since Ben-Hur in '59. As far as I know, there's about twenty-ish released on BD ;

Code:
1959 Ben-Hur
1962 Mutiny On The Bounty
1963 Goryeojang (Burying Old Alive)
1963 It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
1965 The Greatest Story Ever Told
1965 Battle Of The Bulge
1966 Khartoum
1980 Jagko
2010 Post Mortem
2015 The Hateful Eight
2016 10,000 Miles (Yi Wan Gong Li De Yue Ding) (*Digital*)
2017 6 Below: Miracle On The Mountain (*Digital*)
2017 Breathe (*Digital*)
2022 Women Talking (*Digital*)
2023 The Creator (*Digital*)
2025 Sinners
2025 28 Years Later (iPhone 15)(*Digital*)
There's also a couple of 2.76:1 Movies which were cropped to 2.35:1 on homevideo;
Code:
1964 The Fall Of The Roman Empire (*UK BD cropped to 2.35:1)
1965 The Hallelujah Trail (*US BD cropped to 2.35:1)
Elizabeth Taylor's epic 'Raintree County' from 1957 has no proper BD or DVD release for that matter. The bootleg DVDs have been cropped to 1.78:1. The TCM TV streamed version was cropped to 2.35:1

If you want to go eeeven wider... You have offcourse the 4.00:1 segment in Abel Gance's silent epic 'Napoleon' from 1927.
.. and also the Tom Sizemore movie 'Impuratus' from 2022 which has a weird Aspect Ratio of 2.88:1 (!)

.

DaCosta talks about her 28 Years Later sequel and throws shade at Candyman (and Marvels). https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/mo...pt-1236346898/

Quote:
“Making the 28 Years Later sequel was one of the best filmmaking experiences I’ve had,” DaCosta, director of The Marvels (2023) and Candyman (2021), said. “One of the issues I had with Candyman and Marvels was the lack of a really solid script, which is always gonna just wreak havoc on the whole process. But Alex Garland hands you a script, and you’re like, ‘This is amazing.’ You don’t really have to change it, although I did, I basically asked for more infected. [Laughs.] That was, like, my big contribution.”
Ok, you have my attention. Because Candyman really disappointed me. As for her directing style in the new film:

Quote:
She also went into a little detail about landing the job on one of cinema’s biggest horror franchises. “28 Days Later was one of my seminal films growing up… I had the DVD in my house. I watched it all the time. Obviously, fell in love with Cillian Murphy. And Danny Boyle is a bonkers ****ing filmmaker. No one else can make a Danny Boyle film, and that was actually the biggest part of my pitch for the movie. I was like, ‘No one else can do that and I don’t have any intention of doing that. Here’s how I see the film, what do you think?'”

Fingers crossed. I haven't seen her first two films, but I have faith in Boyle and Garland to have chosen someone exciting to hand the keys to.

Watched this on Amazon Prime. Definitely the worst of the trilogy. The only thing I found interesting in the film was the rising tide thing on the causeway lol. The "zombies" were an afterthought here, plus the whole thing felt like an episode of The Walking Dead. And I still don't get the use of 2.76:1 for the AR. I mean, there were a handful of great wide landscape shots but people are going to watch this on 1.78:1 TVs. The intended effect of that wide an image will be lost on consumer TV sets.

I've already preordered the 4K but this won't get much replay at home.

This is so banal but I'm quite thankful they had the names at the top correspond to those below them. Loads of covers mess this up because of contracts and actors superiority. But someone decided to line these ones up correctly.

So kudos.

That drives me up the wall too. I can't stand it when the names do not match up with the actors on the poster.
