It's definitely a better approach than the 2:1 trend for streaming shows that has become popular over the past couple of years. Almost feels like we're in another "bigger is better" war similar to when widescreen films were competing with the new home television trend.

To be honest, I kind of love this trend as of late. Between this, The Creator and Sinners, the aspect ratio is really having a moment right now and I hope to see more of it in strange and personal projects such as these.
