Finally binged the rest of the season. Surprised by all the negativity here & elsewhere. I thought it was largely superb & the most consistently enjoyable season since the first. Foster nailed it throughout.
![]() I was a bit worried they were going to go full mystical bollocks to explain everything, but thankfully they pulled back on that towards the end. Adored the atmosphere, music & cinematography. The ending to episode 4 was a proper '****ing hell!' ![]() Question: I may have missed it, but did anyone explain what the microbe the scientist were looking for in the ice actually was, or how it would 'change the world'? |

I am way late to this but finally watched this over the weekend and felt some things that came up were never really explained, so I came here to see if anyone else asked this or if they got explained.
What I was not expecting at all were people projecting and emoting about how it's another Hollywood show saying white men are bad and empowering women to make white men look bad. WTF? That's what came to mind? My guy/s, that's all about you and nothing to do with this show. |

I pointed it out because you assume that people didn't like it because it made white men look bad and empowering women to make white men look bad. When there are people that just didn't like the show because it wasn't good and there was no agenda behind it. I'm sure I was clear about why I felt the need to point that out the first time. Now you know.

I clearly said I came here to see if others had mentioned or explained some things I didn't think the show did and was shocked that some felt the show was about empowering women and to make white men look bad. That's what a few people said and you weren't even one of them. So I wasn't speaking about you specifically and if you didn't think that was what the show was about, then it doesn't apply to you in general either. Not sure why you feel the need to defend why you didn't like the show to me at this point. You're coming off pretty defensive for no apparent reason. I just want a True Detective finale season with Cohle and Hart that has them going down in a blaze of glory… the system fails to do anything about the villainy of the upper echelon’s occultic atrocities so our beloved duo of crimefighting sentinels take down mankind's enemies in an epic Scareface esque showdown… all bullets, blood, and clouds of cocaine (not really the cocaine but you guys get the idea) ….
Get the team back together and let’s slay some Dragons! ![]() |

Haven't seen Night Country (yet). But I plan on rewatching the Pizzolatto run again soon.
It dawned on me that after Season 1 he was chasing what critics were criticizing him for: the treatment of women in Season 1 made him have more emphasis on women succeeding in Season 2; his lack of POC in Season 2 made him have cast Mahershala Ali in Season 3. I wonder if he would have ignored any type of public outcry to just tell another dark, harrowing tale if he got his Season 4. I know some said that there was a thought to bring back Rust and Marty but that sounded desperate imo. I love that he always had a different, self contained world/story in each season. (It's also a reason I've avoided Night Country since I know it tries to touch on the mystery in Season 1. Feels weird to do that when the original writer isn't involved.) |
