Default Which Fantasy film would you like to see remade ?

With the new versions of both Clash of the Titans and Jack the Giant Killer coming soon I was curious to know what you would all like to see redone.
With cgi now making the unfilmable - believable, which of the great "Stop-motion" fantasy films deserves another chance.
Personally Id like to see The 7th voyage of Sinbad and Mysterious Island given the works. (I know there was a recent version of MI made but it was pretty lame)

Lord of the rings! Know I'm gonna get flack for this, but put the money on the actors and director/writer(s) rather than CGI.

I would say that Eragon is a must because the one that came out before was an abomination of film and fantasy...while I prefer Harryhausen's originals I would like to see some new sinbad movies...I do not approve of the Clash of the Titans thing at all

and I suppose I'll be the first to give flack for the Lord of the Rings comment...I would say that Peter Jackson achieved the best result possible from the books, which are of course a mammoth force to tackle. There are hundreds of side stories details, mythology, languages, it is like watchmen on steroids for film. Peter Jackson's triumph with these films won't be outdone any time soon, he did become a little bit obsessed with CGI by the time Return of the King rolled around but it's a story you can't tell without convincing CGI, 1,000,000 orcs don't just get made one by one these days. Jackson's films were groundbreaking technically as well as in delivering some of the best performances in film history. Yes I'm biased but there's no denying that they were a massive achievement.

The movies aren't possible without CGI. They tried making the movies in the 1950s and couldn't.

Why? Just why? You have to be in the .0001% of people that would think this. Crazy. Most of the film wasn't CGI anyway.

I'm not even sure I want to see Clash of the Titans remade, but it may be worth it.

I'd like to see a remake of Krull. I love the original to death but I'd like to see someone take another serious stab at it.

Personally, I think that most of the remakes of former stop-motion films has been lame so it frightens me to see ANOTHER remake of Mysterious Island (as was suggested earlier - no offense). So I'm going to pick some really lame original films which I would like to see as remakes. I saw both of them on TCM and they are "The Colossus of Rhodes" and "Atlantis, the Lost Continent." [The latter definitely was George Pal's worst film-his other post 1950's films were nominated for or won Academy Awards (Tom Thumb, The Time Machine, The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm and 7 Faces of Dr. Lao).] 7 Faces might be interesting but please NO ADAM SANDLER! Just MHO!

Some good ones were already mentioned that I own on DVD like The Sword and the Sorcerer, and Krull. I would add:

Kull the Conqueror. A great Robert E. Howard character that just wasn't done right the first time.

Archer-Fugitive from the Empire. Very hard to find, and never released on DVD.

Maybe Dragonslayer, but it was pretty darn good the first time.

Spirits Within is not really directly from any previous Final Fantasy game and just it's own thing but Advent Children is like a continuation of the story of FFVII video game put into a movie to show you what happens after the events from the PS1 game. Also there is a Final Fantasy anime thats also not from any videogame and Square Enix just made it up for fun.

I actually agree with you on this, but not for the remake part (maybe sooommeday, but I wouldn't want on any time soon). BTW guys, he's not saying it can't have CGI. He just meant improve on some parts of the films, rather than the CGI.

Now, my disclaimer: I love the movies, and can't wait to get them on blu. BUT, I thought they turned the movies into a cheese-fest in parts. Not many, but they were there. Also, I personally don't think Orlando Bloom can act worth a damn, AND, Frodo was cast wrong. All in my opinion, but like I said, I do love these movies. They did an awesome job with them, but they easily could have been better

The problem with Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within is that it would have been better received having only been called The Spirits Within. It was a solid sci-fi flick but hardly fantasy (despite some fantastical elements). Still, I love that movie and am glad I own it on BD.
