Default Wizard of Oz - Canada

I see that Target and Walmart have the best deals in the USA. Has anyone looked into Canada yet?

I am really not interested in buying the UCE. I just want the movie for $20. LOL

Anyone seen something like that or close?

My order is from amazon UK for around $30 Cdn delivered. I'll be curious to see if there are cheap versions available in Canada though.

Futureshop used to list the Emerald Edition (3-disc Target version) on their web site, but it isn't there anymore. I had preordered it a few weeks ago when it was still on the site, but I haven't gotten a shipping notice yet.

I hope WM comes out with a $20 version up here. I dont really have an interest in all the extras so a one disc option would be nice.

I was doing some google searching for other editions in Canada, and I found this note on the DVDNGG forum posted by the Sr. Admin:

Warner Bros has canceled the release of Wizard of Oz - Emerald Edition on Blu-Ray. The 4-Disc Ultimate Collector's Edition Blu-Ray will be released as scheduled.

http://www.dvdsnextgengaming.com/for...hp?topic=285.0

If so that's really disappointing, but it would explain why the listing has disappeared. If it is cancelled, maybe Futureshop will offer me the ultimate edition for the same price as a consolation. Yeaaahhhh, that'll happen.

The article on the front page of this site says you can get the Target version at Future Shop too. I'll check it out later.

I got an e-mail notification this morning from Futureshop that my Emerald Edition order is still not in stock, but they didn't say it's cancelled. I'm still hoping it'll show up.

The original plan was to only release 100000 copies of the UCE of Wizard of OZ. Due to the cancelation of the Emerald Edition there are 240000 copies of the UCE available. Each of them is individually numbered.

Thanks for the information! It sucks though It seems the only reasonable ways to get this movie on Blu-ray without a box o' junk are to drive down to the US and buy it at Walmart or to order it from Amazon in the UK.

Actually, it sucks bigtime. We ordered a ton of the Emerald Edition and when they announced the cancelation of it the pre-order date for the UCE had already past so we could not even get more of the UCE. I am quite surprised when they announced this. I can only assume that we'll get a regular Blu-Ray Edition down the road.

I just hope that the Blu Ray community holds the line and doesn't buy into all of this crap, forcing you to buy all of the cardboard crap and just refuses to buy in to their greed. I would also like a single disk copy of The Wizard Of Oz, as well. It will probably happen again, when Gone With The Wind comes out, later this year. I don't think too many bought into Casablanca, when they did this previously. It was also available on HD DVD, as a single disk version, for those who had the option. Count me out, for supporting this practice.

Not that I care much about extras but....

Nope. It seems that all Warner releases like this have NTSC extras. Disney and most other studios are like this as well.

I have Monster's Inc and High School Musical 1 so far from the UK and the extras and movie itself all play fine in my North American PS3 or BDP-S360 player.

There are very few which have PAL extras.

Here is a list showing the ones to avoid if that is a problem for you.
