Default Onkyo HT-S6200 vs. Yamaha YHT-791BL

I have never owned a 'nice' home theater before, and I'm working and have put away 'about' $700 for something that can handle HD audio and a 7.1 speaker setup.

I need one in a box because I'm rigid and don't like mixing and matching. I'm tempted to save for the Onkyo-9100THX, but I have no patience.

CNET doesn't have a review of the HT-S6200 or HT-S7200 and that's where I've been getting most of my info.

Any thoughts on these two models? I'm not sure even what stats to look at when buying. I'm open to other HTIBs as well if anyone has a better suggestion.

I have a chance to get an Onkyo HT-S7200 with the nice tallboy speakers for a song. I'm so close to pushing the 'buy' button, but I've never spent more than $200 on audio before. Any last minute advice out there?

I like yamaha stuff better, i like their small speakers, and onkyo receivers generate heat like mad, but no one else here seems to mind... the yamaha sub is a traditional cube, and not the most powerful sub out there, the onkyo on is a taller thinner humidifier looking sub

If i had to pick a HTiB it would be the 7200 onkyo or the 3200 onkyo. also cnet does have review of the 7200, http://reviews.cnet.com/home-theater...-33738041.html

I started out with the sp908 from onkyo and I'd say it was a good way to get into the whole hd audio without having to build a system from scratch. Point being the newer onkyo packages are not their first time around so you will benefit from their experience. I am of course Bias since that's how I started out. Anyways I guess you're going to have to see if you can compare them side by side or just take the plunge.

It should be here in less than twelve hours. I'm so excited/nervous. I hope I don't mess up the install.

Thumbs up Onkyo 7200

I trust you found that the installation was no big deal with the 7200. Be sure to run the Audyssey set up after you have everything in place. I hope you replaced the miniscule speaker wire, as well. And remember to purchase your cables from www.monoprice.com . Have a BLAST trying out your favorite CDs, DVDs and Blu-Rays. And play dumb when the neigbors are pounding on your door tonight.....

I am overwhelmed by the size of it. The subwoofer is bigger than my computer tower. The center channel dwarfs my cable box. Truthfully, I haven't made much progress because the receiver itself is so much larger than any piece of furniture I have at the moment. Daunting!
