Alien series (part of anyway) in 2008 - Blu-ray Forum

Here's some news that's likely to get you Disney animated fans excited - at least those of you who have (or are considering) moving into Blu-ray Disc. A press release issued over at the Disney Consumer Products website indicates that the studio is planning to release its first Platinum animated title on the format in 2008... Sleeping Beauty. In a section talking about the company's Disney Princess line of products, you'll find this text:

"The entertainment will continue as Sleeping Beauty is planned for re-release on DVD in 2008 and will be available on Blue Ray for the first time."

Also today, our industry sources have sent us word that Fox is quietly planning to release at least some of the Alien films on Blu-ray Disc in 2008.

As always, this information should be considered unofficial until the titles are actually announced by the studios in question. Stay tuned...

You and me both. That is one of my favourite franchises. Hopefully we get at least 1 and 2 next year.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I knew about the Disney thing with Sleeping Beauty but I was only wishing Fox was getting started on bringing us the Alien movies. It does seem like the next logical step. I will buy 1,2 & 4 but they ain't getting me to shell over one freakin cent for the turd, I mean the third one.

I actually preferred the 3rd to the 4th i have to say. Big fan of Finchers work. If you look at the extras the guy didn't even have a script to work with.

The first 3 Alien movies in HD will be a great watch and very spooky.. Especially the first two.

The 4th movie was the only one that didn't use H. D. Giger's input on alien design. The final creature with the silly emotional connection to Sigourney Weaver ruined it for me. I was digging it and then almost all of a sudden it was like WTF? Are you F'N kidding me? It looks like a syphilis giant. LAME.

i don't want to stir up trouble but im more worried about fox getting its titles out this year let alone what they might release next year. I am looking forward to sleepy beauty but i own the alien 1-4 box set and im not upgrading.
