1.2 mil on Blu-ray is a nice improvement over the 190K HD DVD claimed for TF1, but DVD sales are down from 8.3 mil to 7.5 mil.

Good news for not only the movie, but the format as well. Already watched this four times and it still hasn't gotten old!

So how many titles have sold at least 1 million so far on the format? Must be several now.

At my Walmart, all the Transformers BDs were out of stock. I heard that was the case from other people as well. Wonder if they didn't ship enough of them the first week...?

The Dark Knight, Iron Man, and Transformers 2 are the only 3 so far. Wolverine is close and will probably reach that by year's end.

I'd expect Star Trek to get 1 million this year as well. 5 is pretty impressive for a 3 year old format.

Well, the $$ should be huge anyhow, I was just expecting a much bigger pdm on this title for the 1st week (Max estimated last year TDK doing a 20% pdm 1st week).
Unless I'm misreading it, I think it went from 25% first day to 19% week end, as the article says that TF moved 7.5 million units, not 7.5 million DVDs.

Which to me says 1.2 million/6.3 million, or ~19%.

Or maybe I just want to believe that. Especially given that I can't stand the thought of a worse movie selling more copies.

Please don't compare Neilsen/VideoScan numbers with Paramount's numbers which didn't even match N/V at the time.

The Nielsen VideoScan First Alert chart on HMM is reporting 26% BD share.

That's a big discrepancy with the 1.2M BD/6.3M DVD/7.5M Total number, but I'll sure take 26% pdm instead of 16% (26% of 7.5M = 1.95M)

It great that Transformers 2 sold 1.2 million BD discs. First, want the studios to be profitable to assure that expensive action movies continue to be made. Sure some are better than others, but to each his own. Second, as Blu-ray sales continue to increase we will have those movies we want (LOTR Extended Edition, Star Wars, Alien, Jaws, Indiana Jones, ect) sooner rather than later.

No way - Transformers has WAY more fans than Star Trek - I felt like I had to convince people to see Star Trek and that is wasnt as "trekky" as they think.

TRF sold $02 MM
Star Trek sold 257 MM

Clearly more people were drawen to TRF

Trek will definitely sell many copies as a bunch of people really liked it. BUT I don't think it will match Transformers numbers.

I think it will be the Iron Man to Transformer's Dark Knight.

Maybe the share is now revenue based as well? 16-19% of sales would probably be about 26% of the revenue.

Or, alternatively, "units" refers to more than just Blu-Ray/DVD, so it had 7.5 million "units", 1.2 million Blu-Rays, and 4.6 million DVDs? Hmm, that would leave 2.7 million "others".

Or the 7.5 million "units" is not sell-through, but shipped numbers to retailers?

A different version? Walmart oddities? Who knows.

With Transformers 2 selling 1.2 million it is simple to calculate the total units sold for the rest of the Blu-ray top 20. Total unit sales for the week (top 20 sellers) should be 1,540,080 units. Top 20 Blu-ray Sellers

Anyone know what movie has the best Blu : DVD ratio total? Not just initial sales.

Actually Unit sold vs revenue makes sense I imagine.

16% of units sold, but 26% of total revenue I guess
