sucks. Oh well. Hopefully this means a US release is coming soon, with Inglorious Basterds with any luck.

Can't wait to get dimensions for this. Prefer if its modestly sized and will sit nicely next to by other blu rays, otherwise I'm cancelling preorder and going std edition.

I think that you get a pretty good idea of the size if you look at the picture with the disc:

Up @ JB for $39.99 here.

The briefcase is a wooden box and it confirms the contents as "A3 Limited Edition Double Sided Commemorative Poster, 12 Page Commemorative Booklet, outlining films production, memorable scenes, A look at the script, The Awards, Trivia Tarantino Biography, Publicity and Promotion."

Well this isn't good. According to the Disc Scan @ AVS, the movie is on a BD50, has a DTS-HD MA 5.1 Audio track BUT it is encoded in 1080i/25p, meaning unplayable on US players. It is Region Free.

The region free players will be able to handle that though. At least I know the LG BH 200 will and I would assume the Momitsu (sp?) would too. Also if this isn't released for another few weeks how did the OP in that link get a copy this early?

Thanks for finding that description. I ended up ordering mine from dStore.com.

My understanding was that 1080i means its interlaced and/or it won't be true HD... Is this wrong? I know my video games play at 1080i, and they sure as heck don't look like my blu rays...

Also, there is a non-briefcase edition, cheaper, from ezydvd.com.au, they ship internationally.

1080i at 25fps will not look as good as if it was 1080p 24fps. The 1080i at 25fps will also have a 4% speed increase (it will be 4% faster then it should be). Guess i'll wait for a proper release and not some basterdised bollocks that this seems to be. Hopefully Amelie gets a proper 1080p treatment.

Must be a port from a PAL source done locally... Sigh. Shame because we've got about four Australian exclusives coming, like Mimic and Scream. Some of these better be proper HD. I'm cancelling my preorder on this one. The european pulps are proper HD at least.

I'll let everyone know when I receive it, however, I have a LG BH 200 so I'm basically region free so that won't affect me. However I'll report the region when received.

And also confirm, if possible, the disc's resolution, whether it is 1080i as rumoured.

Wow, I really hope this isn't true. Interlaced video should have died a long long time ago.

Yes it is 1080i 50hrtz as rummored. It also features heavy DNR, though that may be they way it was intended to look, as when I saw it recently in theatres on a 35mm print, it looked the same way as the blu does.
