Question Suggestions needed for some KEF's please

I'm looking into getting a new set of tower speakers for my home theatre, which is used in a pretty healthy balance of Gaming, Movies and Music. I have a Onkyo 606 amp running my setup and am looking at a few different KEF speakers. My options are: (all prices in CDN)

IQ7: $500
IQ9: $700
IQ70: $900

Does anybody have any of these or have any suggestions on which will not only be the best speaker, but the best bang for the buck. Any suggestions are much appreciated, Thanks!

I had heard the 7s and the 9s, the 50/70/90s weren't out yet, I also heard the XQ40s, To me the 7 and 9s were both very nice speakers, a little bright for my liking, but if you are interested in them I would get the iQ9's. I say that because it is a very good price and you get the 3-way design, which allows for better seperation of the upper and lower mids.

My vote iQ9s.

Congrats nice speakers. Very detailed and great clarity.

Thanks, I was sort of leaning towards the iq9 myself. Not feeling the new models are worth the extra money and feel like I am getting enough extra from the iq9's over the 7's to make the extra money worthwhile. I also may be able to talk the price down a bit more on the iq9's as well.

well to get the 3 way design, the extra driver, I would say it is worth the extra $200. There is also an Official Kef Speaker thread around here somewhere. I know there are a few individuals with the iQ7s. Make sure you have a good receiver to power them, I know they can handle as low as 15 or 20 watts, but they are hungry speakers. Look for a Marantz, Denon, Pioneer Elite, Sherwood, receivers.

Well for the forseeable future they will be powered by my Onkyo 606 as an upgrade for that simply is not in the budget for some time (still in final year of University ). I'll probably bi-amp to gain whatever little bit I can just because I've got enough speaker wire and it won't cost me any extra.

Jeevez,

PM Vega2k and TheForce. They have Kefs and he can provide you with valuable input. I'd like to help but it's been years since I've heard them. Good luck.
