I was wondering if there was any advantage to bypassing the box set of BSG in favor of the individual release of season one and the forthcoming seasons in their individual packaging? Thanks for your replies!

Other than normal packaging, it doesn't come with anything that the whole set doesn't to my knowledge.

if ya can't swing the big price tag to buy the entire series, then buying them one season at a time, when money permits is a good idea.

I do like the individual season packing rather than the boxset packing.

I'll be buying the individual seasons for exactly this reason. Plus I don't have any interest in owning season 4, so this way I can pick and choose what I buy and get the normal packaging.

The complete set is retailing at Amazon for $205 (42% off) for 20 BD-50 discs.

Just season one is retailing for $63 (30% off) for 4 BD discs.
Extrapolating, that would mean paying 5 x $63 = $315 for the complete set.

This is a generous extrapolation given that season 4.5 (3 discs) is selling for $41 (41% off). If Season 1 were 40% off, it would be about $38, giving a total set price of $189.

So, I guess buying the complete set is worth it to get the normal packaging only if the discounts make it comparable.

The remaining question is whether all the extras present on the complete series boxed set are present in the individual season packaging. I guess we will know that once reviewers report on season 1.
