WWII In HD - History Channel - 11/15-11/19 - Blu-ray Forum

For all you WWII buffs out there, the History channel will be broadcasting "WWII In HD", a five night special covering WWII in full color and high definition. Premiering on Sunday 11/15 at 9pm and running 5 nights until 11/19.

I'm surprised History doesn't have more regular high definition programming. You'd think it would be a big draw for the network, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they get their own HD channel. I've always been surprised that they don't have a HD channel. (At least through my satellite provider, I have yet to see one)

The History Channel already has a HD channel. I have it, but to be honest, it is one of the poorer upgrades over standard-definition among the many channels on the air. Much of the programming is obviously upconverted and not truly in HD. The CGI in some shows looks awful and reveals how limited the animation was rendered at. And the archival footage stands almost no benefit in the jump to HD.

Did anybody catch that series they had a couple of years ago? Dogfights: Greatest Air Battles. Using computer animation they recreated various dogfights from WWI up to a future fictional one involving the F-22 Raptor.

The CGI was absolutely gorgeous and at times hard to tell if it was real or fake.
