Default Universal to close out 2007 with 'Timecop' HD DVD (What happened to the 140+ pledge)?

So between Universal and Paramount they dont even have 60-70 new HDDVD exclusive releases between August and December 2007 since their so-called pledge! So what happened to that 140+ HDDVD movie releases pledge by the HDDVD camp? And they sure are closing out the year worth of HDDVD releases with a bang! Jean-Claude Vandame, the ultimate cheese of the 80's and early 90's! (no offense JCV fans). This release will probably reach new lows when it comes to sales figures and SUCKINESS!!! Enjoy your Cheese HDDVD fans...Did Universal run out of options from their existing catalog? this movie shouldnt even be announced, they should just quietly put it on the shelf without any announcements!

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...op_HD_DVD/1033

here is the article for the lazy ones...

Universal to Close Out 2007 with 'Timecop' HD DVD
Wed Oct 03, 2007 at 02:47 PM ET

In what Universal says will be its final new high-def catalog release of 2007, the studio will bring the sci-fi thriller 'Timecop' to HD DVD in late December.

The 1994 Jean-Claude Van Damme thriller was his highest-grossing hit ever in the US, and with its December 26 HD DVD bow the studio will pull down the curtain on its 2007 HD DVD catalog release plans.

Universal is not exactly pulling out all the stops for 'Timecop,' however, and like the bare bones standard-def DVD version, the HD DVD will include a theatrical trailer as the lone bonus feature.

Tech specs feature a HD-15 single-layer disc with 1080p/VC-1 audio and Dolby Digital-Plus 5.1 Surround tracks (1.5mbps) in both English and French.

Retail for the HD DVD is $29.98.

You'll find disc details for 'Timecop' linked from our HD DVD Release Schedule, where it is indexed under December 26.

That doesn't look too good for those HD fudders Here's hoping for Universal to at least become neutral by early 2008. Good bye Mr. Graffeo, have a nice day :P

On the upside, TimeCop finally has a widescreen version, yay! This also means that they had to do a new telecine and hopefully a new print so it doesn't look like crap on the eventual Blu

I can't believe they never reissued the P&S DVD in wide or as an SE

Single layer 15GB?!? That's going to look great for a 98-min film....

Does anybody want to start a rumor on HD DVD yields now?

enjoy

i would think they get something big to help out transformers, but no, bourne is the only thing they got and i dont see it as a big as LFDH or Simpsons. So those guys keep dreaming for Back to the future, American Pie, who knows, you might see it first on Blu next year

duh, its the end of the year!

Why are so many people concerned about studios final 2007 lineups? Its the end of the year people, movies can't be announced and produced in a shorter amount of time.

And oh yeah not sure what happened to the HDDVD camp pledge of 140+ HDDVD release, was it 140? or maybe it was 100? hmm maybe it was 99? I think it was actually 75? How about just picking your favorite number between 1 and 60? This will include the 10-15 Warner RE-Releases too.

So far with the exception of 2-3 delays into 2008 on the Bluray side, Bluray studios have almost overdelivered on their promise...they are still making announcements and my guess they will make up to 10 more announcements for late 2007 BD releases, with well over 100 BD releases between Aug and December.

cause they really don't have a whole lot else coming out. i think a lot of ppl where expecting a heres what we've been working on and is coming out in nov. and dec. they announced like 70 movies at once earlier this year and i think they've only got about 20 flicks coming out before xmas, the only one worth getting in bourne.

Wow, and they are putting it on a single layer HD-15. They're putting little effort into this release.
