Default 3:10 To Yuma.....

I just watched the film over the weekend and loved it. Bale and Crowe are fantastic in their roles. I just had one problem with how Ben Wade (Crowe's character) gets caught. When he is upstairs in the saloon with a lady friend, he clearly notices authorities coming back from the robbery location through the window. From there, he sits down at the bar to have a long conversation with Dan Evans (Bale's character) only to have authorities take him into custody at gunpoint. Why would Wade take so long to attempt a getaway? Why did he take his time at the saloon? Shouldn't he have gotten out of there asap since they were obviously gonna come back?

Good point. I noticed something was a little off there. Your right though, really good movie and great acting all around (especially Ben Foster IMO).

Throughout the movie, it's pretty obvious that, a big part of him wants to get caught because he's guilty about who he is.

The gang is more concerned with springing him than he is about getting sprung by his gang.

I ordered Yuma from a member on here who lives in Australia. Unfortunately it never showed up. But I went to Best Buy this weekend and picked it up. Really good movie IMO. And yes I agree with Space Monkey, he either wanted to get caught or didnt care if he did got caught because he knew he could escape.

This was a good flick that had a few logic lapsses and such. A lot of people, me included wondered why they just didnt kill Wade in the first place. It would have saved a TON of trouble. Thats the biggest question I had. And, the final gun fight was a little off.... noone ran out of bullets(as usual in a western).

Good flick though.

As usual in nearly any moving involving gunplay...unless they have the caracter dead to rights. Then they always run out.

While the release is excellent I felt this movie is totally over rated.

I bought this and thought it was ok. Ben Foster really stole the show though. I remember him in the Punisher...big difference...he's really showed us what he can do.

So I traded it off. Then I got it again and watched it...liked it but someone had wanted it on here for a trade so I sent it off again...:...then I got it again and it's staying on my shelf this time lol. Doesn't have a lot of re-watch value but Bale/Crowe is such a great matchup and Foster is amazing. It's a good watch.

Wade had been caught before and had escaped, so he did not fear getting caught, and relished the thought of getting another chance to get away.

I agree about Ben Foster, he was fantastic in this movie and even stole some of the scenes from bale and crowe which is quite an accomplishment

Another movie that he is excellent in is 30 Days Of Night, he does an excellent job of playing this creepy guy

he could have escaped at several points in the movie

i think what happened is he started to develop a sense of admiration for bale's character and the fact that bale would do whatever it took to get that money and save his farm

He knew he could escape easily, so he decided to play along so that bale would get the money for escorting him to the train

i think Ben Wade admired Bale's devotion to his son . Something his parents didn't do. May have been Wade's final atonement for his sins

So, he wanted to get caught. That's what I figured as the movie went along. Great movie, loved Ben Foster in this. He is even better in "30 Days of Night". Hopefully, he will get more roles coming his way cause he is one of my favourite young actors.

I think it all boils down to the fact that Ben Wade 1. had a heart, even though he tried to hide it, and 2. loved the thrill of escaping, which he said he'd already done, and to the best of our knowledge did again after the movie ended.

Agreed with OP; this is a classic western with a great story and great acting. The 7.1 audio is kick ass also.

This is one of my favorite movies. As for Ben Foster, he was creepy in alpha dog as well.

Good flick though.
Because his gang would have killed everyone in the town had they done that.

Byron specifically says that.
