Default Silk Screen Effect?

I have a Samsung LED DLP (HLT5089S) and have noticed something weird on the tv's actual screen. I believ the screen is made out of some type of plastic or acrylic material instead of glass. I have seen some people describe it as the "silk screen effect." I love this TV, but it is a bit annoying. Does anyone know anything about this? I have also heard that calibration can help, but I don't see how if the problem is the actual screen.

Silk screen effect

...I would imagine if you calibrate to an appropriate contrast level that this would help minimize the "bright white" effect...

but thats just my guess as I had never heard of this until your post. Sounds pretty much like youre right, its because of the screen and not the actual picture.

But again, proper calibration would probably help minimize this visually.
