I'm failing to see what growing up in the 90s has to do with this bracelet.

I do remember the snap bracelets and I remember having a Ninja Turtle watch which was just Michaelangelo's face, but you'd flip it open to reveal a little digital clock underneath.

This thing reminds me of neither.

You guys are no fun.

I'm honestly surprised that no one recognized this thing.

I really must be the only one here who grew up on Power Rangers. I get a major nostalgia-boner when I imagine being able to wear this on my wrist and mod a bluetooth module into the face.

I guess you guys would only know the feeling I have by looking at something like this: http://gizmodo.com/025437/bluetooth-...k-communicator

Yes! I had that Ninja Turtles watch too! I think it came with something but but I don't recall... maybe a box of cereal?

It would if I mod'd in a bluetooth module. It could make that sound every time I receive a call and I'd be able to make and receive calls by talking into it.

!!!!

Or I could just buy a separate plastic toy and rip out the sound module from that and put that inside the metal face of this 40 dollar one.

Or...

You could save yourself, time, AND money, not use bluetooth at all, not buy a ridiculous metal toy wristwatch that you'd be constantly explaining to everyone what it is and what the reference of it is, and just use your cell phone when you get a call.

What good is money saved if saving the money makes me unable to own the possessions that I would like to own?

If I have disposable income and a desire to own this thing, I will buy it if I consider it worth the cost. That doesn't just apply to this novelty item, but to ALL things in life. Why have I bought hundreds of Blu-rays? Because I want them, have the money to spare, and consider it worth it. Why have I bought a larger TV and surround sound system? Because I want them, have the money to spare, and consider it worth it.

I could have thousands of dollars right now, but instead I decided that owning a nice TV, sound system, and a lot of movies was more important. Considering the amount of money I've "wasted" in these possessions, I'd think none of you would judge me for feeling like "wasting" 40 bucks on a novelty watch.

Anyway, I think I'll be getting this "watch" as a Christmas gift, so I need not worry about the cost.

Very well said. This item isn't my personal "cup of tea", but if it's something you like and it's something you enjoy, I say go for it.

As crazy as many people here seem to think this to be, Afrobean makes a great point. Many of us have large collections of Blu-Rays (in addition to any DVDs we may own as well). Many people would look at the money spent on that stuff and would certainly raise an eyebrow at it.

I say, if it's something you want, you can afford it, and it makes you happy, go for it. If other people don't like it, to hell with them.

I'm sure there are more than a few people here who either have questionable Blu-Rays in their collection and/or collect something else entirely that others would find somewhat odd. But if it's not hurting anyone, why should it matter?

Because if you spend all your money on useless crap, you won't have any left for a 'rainy day'

There's a difference between want of something that can bring entertainment and want of something that's completely and utterly useless. Pity you haven't learned that lesson yet.

Again, you're comparing entertainment of yourself to the entertainment of others.

With Blu-Ray it's you entertaining yourself and it's something that your friends might get entertainment out of as well.

With the Power Rangers super mega watch that doesn't tell time, sure you might get entertainment out of it {like masturbation} but it pales in comparison to how much entertainment your friends will get out of it when they rib you with regards to how useless it is to buy a metal toy from a TV show that was out when you were a kid {especially if they see you wearing it after they laugh at you the first time}

Convincing someone else to waste their money getting it, that's an excellent move on your part.

If you really wanted it then you would've bought it already and not asked us what we think about it.

Who says he isn't saving any money? He may still have some left to spend on something like this.

Wow, that's an extremely rude and unnecessary statement. Perhaps having something like this would be entertaining to him. I'm sure you've probably made some purchases in your time that you enjoyed but others would find questionable.

Perhaps you should focus less on what he wants to purchase, and focus more on getting over yourself.

If such is the case, it's still a waste of money.

Ask most of the regulars on the forum, I haven't even started getting rude or unnecessary yet.

If that's the case, I probably could roll up a ball of tinfoil, tell him that "Tommy" the one Power Ranger used to have his lunch in it, and sell it to him for $40 {hell... I'd probably be able to get more if I actually left some lunch in it} I bet he'd find that entertaining too...

Depends, would I buy something that looks like one thing, but is completely and utterly useless until I spent hours moding it to be something else?

No. Never have, never will. Some folks make the mistakes, and I don't have to experience that myself to know that it's kinda pointless to do so.

Quote:

Perhaps, but then again, perhaps you should probably stop wasting your time being his personal champion on an internet forum, I'm fairly sure he can take care of himself and protect his purchase of a bracelet all by his lonesome.

He doesn't need hand-holding... but if you wanted to, you could ask him if he wanted to hold your hand, maybe you could both buy the same Power Rangers bracelet and join a super secret club.*
