Japanese Translator for CEATEC info? - Blu-ray Forum

I am pretty sure that we have some Japanese natives here.

Can someone help translate this presentation:

DVD Forum Presentation

Apparently there is some interesting information about Region Coding and Triple Layer discs presented and it would be useful to know what it is without translation errors.

It looks like it is saying that the TL51 spec 2.0 should be ready within a year...

Wow, that is a lot further off then even 'we' thought... if the spec isn't even going to be complete for a year...

i know they are talking about tl51, but where is their usual habit, comparing it with BD?
hope that 2.0 specs won't be compatible to existing drive

Wicky - can you explain what they are saying about region code near the top? That is just meaningless in the translation on babelfish

The excite translation is better.

It pretty much confirms without doubt that the TL discs will not be compatible with current players. Woe darn.

The Region Code stuff is still kinda mysterious - I guess they are saying that it is in there already, just not used?

If correct, HD-DVD reveals itself as a wannabe format, pursuing what BD already has - region coding, capacity. You have to wonder why not support the format that already has these specs and is actively improving the quality of the tech? Why is it that it is only acceptable when applied to HD-DVD but unacceptable or unnecessary on its competitor? So are HD users now going to stop ridiculing BD's profiles?

These of course are rhetorical questions as I'm sure most here have similar answers, so no need to discuss it in this thread.

I too look forward to an accurate translation - though WickyWoo is likely right - no subtlety here. It will prove to be yet another confirmation of BD's strengths and the hypocrisy in the forthcoming response of many of the HD DVD formats most ardent supporters.

some funny posts there, like don't trust google translator or web translator (well, it depends on people using it too, they should have sense which word is translated wrong).
another one: HD DVD Defense Force Gather!! I dont see this going well...

i never knew if such inferior format has a defence force. what are they defensing?

I like the way the initial title was changed on that thread because some of the HD fanboys started whining about it. I guess the truth hurts, so they decided to change it to something less hurtful.

The biggest point I saw, other than the possibility of region coding, was that the latest triple layer disc might not be compatible with current players. I thought HD was a finalised product, and BD was still trying to figure out which end was up.

He's right in a way - google is not, and in principle a machine translation isn't a very good idea. Excite is half decent, but it's not perfect either. The correct way to cite foreign language sources is to link to the original article and then people have to translate/verify/read it on their own. If they don't know Japanese they can neither dispute the source nor verify it. They can only trust the the person who edits wikipedia itself accurately reports what the source contains.
